According to the BBC, Cadel Evans is a better sprinter than Sastre and therefore should have gotten a large amount of time back in the time-trial...
His subsequent overall lead of 94 seconds proved decisive in Saturday's time trial as Evans - widely considered the better sprinter and tipped to post a much quicker time than Sastre - failed to produce what was required, gaining only 29 seconds. |

What? Where? Which sponsor?
Rumor is a portugese company may take over as the title sponsor for Credit Agricole at the end of the season, it was talked about in the "News in July" thread.

By the way: I noticed an interesting thing during the stage. CSC was handing out champagne to their riders. One non-CSC rider also got a glass, Pozzato, who has previously been rumoured on his way to CSC.
Coincidence?
I thought Pozzato was off to the Russian team?
I feel so stupid now. You're right, I completely forgot that.
Just found this on cyclingnews.com
"Contrary to previous reports, Italian Filippo Pozzato has not finalised his contract with the newly formed Team Katusha. The 26 year-old cyclist explained Saturday morning at the Tour de France that he is reviewing the Russian team's contract offer, but has yet to ink the deal."

Kazakh rider Dmitriy Fofonov was fired from his team and detained by French police for questioning after it was announced that he tested positive for a banned stimulant, heptaminol. The French Anti-doping Agency president Pierre Bordry said that the now former Crédit Agricole rider had tested positive for "very heavy dose" of the drug.
According to The Associated Press Fofonov was arrested at his team's hotel and taken in for questioning. His team manager Roger Legeay said that the rider told him that he bought the product on the Internet. "He says that it was for cramps, but that he forgot to tell the team doctor," Legeay said.
The news of the positive time came while the team was celebrating the finale of the Tour de France on the Champs-Elysees. "I am deeply crushed. I've been riding with him for four years," said team-mate Jimmy Engoulvent. "We are professionals. Whether it's a stimulant or EPO, it's the same thing."
Fofonov was the fourth rider to test positive during the Tour.
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

If this means CA doesn't get a new sponsor that would be horrible. The beloved( ) former cyclist and teammate of Fofonov Mads Kaggestad said that if any of the other cyclistws in CA tested positive from the tour he would walk in a thong from Vikersund to Drammen. (which, according to Google Maps on iPhone, is 41,8 km)
I believe Andy Schleck was the best climber of the tour, at least if you exclude the stage to Hautacam. he killed everyone on Prato Nevoso.
Edit: Found the article. https://www.vg.no/...tid=197246
Translated:
I would be even more shocked if more Crédit Agricole are caught. I'm sure there is no organized doping in the team, and if it is revealed that there ism I'll walk from Vikersund to Drammen in thongs, says Kaggestad.

If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.

Watching footage of the podium with the jersey winners, I think Freire's young daughter wishes that her dad was a climber instead of a Sprinter as she was looking as Sastre's young son holding the yellow lion aloft beside her with a look of envy

Like Valverde?
He's Spanish, good on hills and mountains, and has a good sprint. Plus he is fairly young!
I'm a genious at whatever this particular skill of determining is called!

Verdugo tried to bridge the gap with Voeckler and Casar to Chavenel and Bichot at the end of stage 6 after escaping on the Croix-Morand. |
