Sorry I misread your post, I thought you said the team had not had any success since 2011 not Tom D.

Your point on not bringing him and winning the USAPC still makes no sense to me. He dominated Horner and Horner won the Vuelta last year. Cool

And Horner is miles away from being in the same shape as last year + the competition for this years Vuelta is way harder than last year Smile

2. Matti Breschel (Tinkoff-Saxo)
3. Tiesj Benoot (Lotto-Belisol)

Boaro is the new leader.

Great stuff from Tiesj. Show them what you're made off. Cool I demand that PCM.Daily grants an interview with him. Pfft

Really quite impressive, to pull off such a result already in the first Pro race and be second in the GC right now. A bit scary to think of what's to come of him, what a talent. Shock

did they give an update on Brenes in the end? I know he was in an ambulance but the I had dinner so couldn't carry on watching to find out any more.

According to his Twitter, he is aiming to be ready for the 2014 USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Which begins in about nine days on August 18, so obviously well enough to race again soon but understandably sore.

Now down to the Tour of Denmark, where Andrea Gaurdini of Astana won Stage 4 ahead of Tom Van Asboeck of Topsport Vlaanderen and Filippo Fortin of Bardiani.

Note: Although you could also call it Stage 4A since the Time Trial also takes place today, but PCS lists it as Stage 5 rather than 4B.

You should also remember that last year Danielson also dropped Horner in Utah, after what Horner won Vuelta. So we must remember that for those who target Vuelta this is just a preparation race.

It's not Danielson fault he has no success in GTs since 2011, at least not it's not down to him not being capable of it. He crashed out from the Tour in 2012 and last year he rode with an injured knee. This year he didn't ride any.

He is still showing he has what it takes to be a top10 GC contender in GTs. He was really good last year in one week races (also in Europe, 4th in Romandie for instance) and all signs show he is not experiencing a downgrade of his climbing capabilities yet, and may be on a simillar way to Horner to reach his peak in late thirties (Horner did even in early thirties, to be accurate).

I understand Garmin's will to achieve success in the US races, but it would be a shame if we can't see what is Danielson capable of in Vuelta in the form he is in now. Don't forget the last 3 Vueltas were won by riders that had ridden neither Giro nor Tour that year.

Malkael
BMC Racing and Cadel Evans going with the all-in move at the moment, with Ben Hermans still safely in the peloton as their best placed rider in the GC. Cadel Evans trying to bridge across to three team mates (inc. Schar) sitting in the chase group about 1'10" behind Jens Voigt out in front.

Gap back to peloton from Voigt is about 3'30", while Evans is currently about 2'05". So the pressure really being applied on to Garmin - Sharp and Tom Danielson at the moment, with Evans just 2'43" behind in GC at the start of the stage.

Edit #1: Evans has made it! Game on for BMC.

A really interesting move, Evans is now a virtual leader, with help of 3 teammates they have chances of pushing it to the end, if not then Hermans will have some good support on the last climb.

Garmin's bad luck strike continues with Acevedo (in break) missing to catch his mussette properly, which ends in his rear wheel. Though he managed to catch up to break.

EDIT: As the penultimate climb starts in Utah, Evans is left alone by his teammates and starts his way to the finish. The gap is currently 4:40.
