Great signing for Phinney. I think he should have better Sprint though, so maybe that will improve a bit by next season.

Pellizotti2
That's a very good signing. Hope he'll do well in his new team next season.

"Murphy is the last American..." hmmm...
Anyway, great signing, he could have a great future

roturn
Well. You found my error. Wink Wasn`t supposed to be the last American but the last BMC rider. Obviously I failed. Wink

Thanks all for the comments.

Excellent signing, that will add another great option for you in stage races.

Thanks both of you. Not 100% sure about his potential. But I hope he has some left in TT and sprint.

Parallel to the Tour I played the Tour of Austria. Different to last year I don`t have a big report for every stage. So here just the summary of this race.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/07%20July/Aut-logo.gif

I played Thomas` variant for this race. Martin was 2nd in 2010, 1st in 2011 and is here again to defend this title. Rojas was a real stage hunter last year and so he wants to do this year.

Our two leaders are mostly supported by Stetina in the mountains and Fischer in the sprints.

Also some transfer news of two Garmin riders leaving the team.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Sonstiges/lowe-1.jpgi1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Sonstiges/HTC.jpg

Trent Lowe signed a contract over 2 years for HTC-Highroad. So he keeps riding for an American team.
He was a loyal helper but often riding under his possibilities. Interesting to see how he can perform in a new team.

2010:
Top 10, Giro d`Italia, stage 4

2011:
1st KoM ranking, Tour Down Under
15th Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, overall
25th Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal

2012:
-

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Sonstiges/rojasgil-1.jpgi1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Sonstiges/Astana.jpg

Also Rojas Gil has to leave our team towards Astana due to the high amount of sprinters. With aiming a more American/Australian based team we decided to not renew his contract. With Farrar, Goss, Haussler and young talent Dao we still have great sprinters. Together with Davis, Brown and Bazayev Astana will have an interesting mix of fast men in the next season.
With the Vuelta he wants to have a great finish of two quite successful years with Garmin.

2011:
3 stages/Points, Tour of Austria
2 stages/3xtop3/7xtop10, Vuelta a Espana
7th UCI World Championships Road

2012:
2 stages, Tour of Austria
7th Bayernrundfahrt, overall
15th, Vuelta a Ciclista a Catalunya, overall

Tour de France - Stage 8
Le Mans - Tours
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/07%20July/tdf-8-1.jpg
One of the flattest stages this Tour. Just 3 flat stages left in the whole Tour, so it won`t become easier for Haussler to get a stage win. The finish will be held on the roads of the famous classic Paris - Tours.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/07%20July/tdf-8-2.jpg
5 riders in the break today. Verheyen (Colnago), Roux (FDJ), Gutiérrez (Movistar), Quinziato (Katusha) and Castroviejo (Euskaltel). None of them is dangerous but with that less sprint stages left the sprinter teams that are all not in this group won`t allow them to win.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/07%20July/tdf-8-3.jpg
HTC, Liquigas and Sky are doing most work. They do enough to control the breakaway. The maximum gap was 8min with 120km to go, when the peloton accelerated a bit.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/07%20July/tdf-8-4.jpg
Vansummeren was supposed to bring Haussler in a good position. Unfortunately the pace was very fast and so the Belgium had big problems to come to a great position. So Haussler has to sprint from the 15th now. Other sprinters like Davis, Boonen, Napolitano or Bonnet have a much better position while Cavendish is next to Haussler.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/07%20July/tdf-8-5.jpg
And Boonen wins another stage ahead of Davis and Cavendish. Haussler as 4th with a good sprint today but not as much as he planned to reach before the Tour.

Unfortunate(typing fail?) that Haussler was in a bad position. Do you have trouble putting together a lead-out train now after the patch? Or is it just thats having that issue? Pfft

Normally it works. But the pace in the Tour is just incredibly fast. Hunter is struggling before the 12km mark. Vansummeren was struggling doing the only lead out. In the end I had him on 99% dot and pace and he couldn`t go further than this.

Damn, realistic but it kind of sucks when it is hurting your own chances for a stage win Pfft
