I think lots of people here seriously underestimate the Mortirolo climb. Savoldelli will for instance be happy if he loses less than 5 minutes up that climb, so whatever he's capable of downhill wont matter in the finale of this stage, unless he enters an early breakaway. I've also problems seeing Klöden (in his current form) being much of a factor the last 50 km’s or so, I think he'll be dropped as soon as Ricco or di Luca attacks (probably (hopefully) 3-4 km’s up the climb ). None of the top guys are likely to have any helpers the last 50-60 kilometres, so this will be a battle 1v1v1, where the strongest rider will win. I'll also write Bruseghin off, he'll surprise me if he loses less than 3 minutes up the Mortirolo climb, but nothing would please me more than if he manages to surprise me.
Anyway, this promises to be a fantastic stage, hopefully a bit like the 1996 Mortirolo stage, where Tonkov (with help from Gotti) cracked Olano (who were the huge overall favourite for that years giro), after losing the jersey to Olano the day before.

di Luca/Ricco alliance. Sounds like an alliance forged in the depths of hell! The Sith lord and his apprentice. |

If it will work both Di Luca and Riccò must be much stronger than Contador...Even though they attack once at a time it doesnt help sitting on wheel in uphill
Chelsea for ever!

The other thing about the Montirolo is it is pretty much not about racing up it. It's simply surviving for most. So if anybody does pull of an attack on it, you can pretty much better he won't have many companions.
And as to Contador taking risks downhill trying to catch up a lead - what do you think Di Luca and Ricco will be doing

when the first attack comes on the Mortirolo, you can be sure everything will fracture. you'll suddenly have a bunch of different very small groups of riders. |

Di Luca had problems one time where he almost crashed but the grou who where behind did not get any closer in the downhill. |

depends on how many riders still remain after the first big climb;
when do start at the mortirolo?
prevent hangovers --> stay drunk
pozzato, basically the most stupid cyclist around
RIP WW. Gone but not forgotten
