My god, Sunweb has Kittel, Groenewegen, Demare, Bauhaus and Degenkolb all on the same team, and decided to bring them all to Africa at once.
Anyway, good luck to the little green men! |

Should be a good race. Stacked startlist. Dimension Data looks like any one of their riders could win the Green on their own team. (Im guessing Bouhanni is pretty good still since this is 15' And as the home team they will want to win as many stages as possible.

Sunweb has them, Dimension Data has Sagan, Matthews, Bouhanni and Ewan. I wish I could do anything about all good sprinters and climbers riding for two teams really.
Will be an interesting fight for green in any case, if both DDD and SUN manage to find a designated leader.
As for us, we don't have a man for the overall and Barbero is likely to struggle on the flat sprints. Curious to see what a lineup with a lot of free roles will get us here.

Bouhanni is quite good indeed. I expect a very strong showing from too, as they have a good squad for the sprints and both GC captains (Ghilardi and Barguil) showed good form in the prep races.

Keep looking out for Kelderman, who could well make it two in a row. Don't worry, won't be a RuralvÃa win for sure.

They do, but don't look at Bahrain then.

Tour de France (2.GT) Stage 1/21, 5.4 kms
A textbook prologue really. Just over 5 kms long, pan flat and no tricky corners. Stuff for the great rouleurs, and not for any of the riders on our roster for this edition.
Just like in the Dauphiné, Michael Matthews rode a superb prologue. This time, it didn't suffice for the first yellow jersey though. First Phinney narrowly beat his time, then the two of them saw Dumoulin take a clear win. Just like last year, he's the first Maillot Jaune.
No big expectations today for us. Caicedo was our fastest man in 95th place.

Not too good indeed, but didn't expect much either. Curious to see how Barbero will do on the flat stages, as he showed great form on the Nationals.
ColoQuick has become a very solid PCT team by now, not the first time they secure a Grand Tour wildcard.
Spoiler Too bad they're losing one of their best riders to a WT team. |

Tour de France (2.GT) Stage 2/21, 171.3 kms
The second stage mostly followed the south coast of Mauritius, making it a mainly flat stages. The fight to get in the break was fierce, due to the fact the first intermediate sprint came so soon after the start.
From the breakaway of three, Nathan Van Hooydonck grabbed the first polka dot jersey on the Vanilla House climb. Later two more riders caught up.
Also worth mentioning was a crash lots of big names were involved in. GC contenders Pardo and Ghilardi fell, just like top sprinters Ewan and Bouhanni.
All five were caught well in time, so the stage would end in a mass sprint. Riding in his brand new Spanish jersey, Carlos chose Marcel Kittel's wheel.
A new crash took out Adrien Costa five kms from the line. The wearer of the white jersey lost it to Okan Demir.
Winning a mass sprint is a huge ask, the startlist of Le Tour being what it is. Barbero was more than happy to come 5th. Kittel won by a clear margin, ahead of Alexander Kristoff and Jasper Stuyven.

Tour de France (2.GT) Stage 3/21, 169.5 kms
The third and last stage in Mauritius took the riders from the east coast back to the western part, this time through the somewhat hillier inland of the island.
Caicedo sat in the break with polka dot jersey Van Hooydonck. On the climbs, however, he couldn't keep up with the Belgian, who's shown great form on these first stages.
Dayer Quintana bridged when Caicedo had fallen back into the pack. Van Hooydonck and Dayer wouldn't stay clear because of the high pace.
Barbero chose to follow Jasper Stuyven this time, and ended up behind Lotto's very strong train. Not a single team came ven close to keeping up.
It was Stuyven against Carlos for the win. At the back of a long sprint, Carlos stranded in Stuyven's wheel. For the second time in his career, he came second in a Tour stage. Time to move to the African mainland.

Very happy with how he has performed on the first two sprints. Let's hope he can keep it up once we've reached the African mainland.

I'm very impressed with his sprinting so far too, hopefully he can use this top form he's in to win a stage later on.
