I hope Portugal wins tonight... I'm starting to lose hope... I'm almost starting to think Scolari's era wasn't that bad...
I do not believe you said that. I just don't believe it.
It's just a freindly match, Portugal is not playing bad but can't score goals. Don't know why though...
Ups, now I know, the offensive trident are completly sucking and Deco is out of form. |

Portugal are playing with a striker who has never played a professional game of club football in his life.
I'll repeat: Portugal's striker has never played a professional game of club football in his life.
This is not a metaphor, an obscure reference, or even a joke. It's a fact.
That is just how sad the situation has become.

@isso: that's not true he has played for SC Braga some minutes in some matches. He even played against FC Porto!
but he sure looks promising and we need a promising striker. Go Orlando Sá !!

Are you quite sure? I've never seen zerozero make a mistake, and they have him listed for zero minutes. And just two weeks ago he was talking about how he was eager to finally get to play soon...

If I'm not mistaken he did play 3 matches for Braga this year. Never on the starting eleven though.
And yes, he did play against Porto, I remember that.

it's just a matter of being able to get the ball in the net damn it!
but I have to agree with isso our scoring ability is really weakened and these nordic national teams really like to play a tactic game with their tall and strong players will once more lead to many nails bitten...
its a good think Ibrahimovic will see the game in his couch

Portugal U-21 4-1 Spain U-21
Portugal's second or third choice under-21 team destroyed spain and he scored a hat-trick of headed goals.
Also, portugal never produces any strikers. Just forwards. You know, fast guys with good technique and.....stuff....
We're a small country with not many people to choose from. And since we only seem to produce good/very good midfielders and world class central defenders and wingers......we have no forwards or goalies.
Hugo freakin' Almeida is our starting striker for god's sake

Imo only Norway plays like that... Denmark has tried to play like Holland for almost a century now, with hardly any succes, and sweden definately doesn't play boring football imo.. |

Norway tactical? Norway plays long balls up to the tall strikers like Carew, then he heads it to a midfielder, and then in some wierd way they, get the ball out to the wing, who then crossees it towards Carew who then heads it in the goal. Not tactical football, counter football. And Denmark just play like shit, as they don't have the players to play dutch football. And with no strikers we are doomed

France are submitting a bid to be the hosts of Euro 2016. Does anyone think, with Platini head of Uefa, and the problems with Poland/Ukraine 2012, that they wont get it? |

As for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, the organisers of both will be decided at the same time. Countries apply, and someday, at the same time, the decision will be made that one will host in 2018 and another in 2022.
The final date for submitting bids has passed. FIFA's not very happy that of all the bids, only 3 bids fulfill the requirements.
Portugal/Spain (joint bid)
England
USA
None of the other bids fulfill the requirements to be considered
Namely,
Russia
Holland/Belgium (joint bid)
Australia
Mexico
Japan
South Korea
Qatar
Indonesia
do not fulfill requirements.
Board member Andy Roxburgh has stated that the 2 tournaments must be in different continents, so if the decision were made today, the USA would get one, and the Iberian bid would get the other over England, due to a less crowded accessibility network (roads, trains, etc) and because of the experience of Euro2004 being considered unprecedented organizational success.
I personally hope it doesn't come here. Our country needs to use the money on more important stuff. This is just showmanship for the hell of it.
