he said he went flat out but was just dead from all the effort helping his leaders

Take him as being actually from Ávila, he really does not feel as a Madrilian. Sastre and Boonen made my day |

CARLITO YOU ROCK!
I'm glad Evans had a off-day.

Phanekim, on one hand, you're praising Vandevelde for his enormeous improvement. On the other hand, you're saying that Sastre doped even though he basically rode the TT as expected. It's Evans and Menchov who have done worse than normally.
I agree. Vandevelde although has been recently proclaimed by doping experts as clean. The others they are mum on. We do know that there are several irregularities outside of ricco. We do know how the doping nazis work. They are selectively targeting the suspicious riders. Them targetting the Schleck's dad should signal something. I do not think menchov or evans have been selectively targetted. But once they started going through a member of CSC, I started getting suspicious.
Maybe its my own paranoia, but think about all the times that someone has done a great performance in the last 3 years and then they get kicked out for doping. It seems the only reliable thing is that there are going to be more positives. I"m not fully convinced we haven't seen the last positive of the tour yet.
Trust me, i want to believe a lot of these guys are clean, but over and over i'm let down. Its not what i feel i want to believe but what seems to be reality.

I thought that too. After his win in last years tour, milan san remo and tour de suisse he will try to still the win from sprinters tomorrow |

It won't happen. He has repeatly said that he's completely busted and dead. I'd be surprised if he tries tomorrow -- but you never know |

I dont think its a fact of xenophobia as much as a function of me spending too much time defending those dopers...even americans like landis/armstrong only to feel backstabbed in the back. So, yes, i am american, used to defend these guys a lot. I no longer bother.
The truth is, when basso confessed, he confessed a lot. He confessed that riis and frank had meetings with fuentes even. There are articles on this at dailypeloton. Remember guys, where there is smoke there is fire. Don't buy into their illusion. I know i don't anymore. It wouldn't shock me if a big name is caught soon.
ON the upside, i do think the sport is cleaning up. it'll be 2-3 more years though. So far i like the progress. |

WHAT?
can you get me links please?

don't worry, I don't buy into Damsgaard's bullshit. to me it seems a bit like it's more of a cover-up program. control the doping. anyway, I don't want to be guessing, all I know is that the change isn't going many places right now, for the simples fact that most drugs are untraceable.
The bottom line is this: a lot less has changed than it seems, most teams "commited to being clean" are actually doping. And no matter what, the only way to stop this is to develop tests for all the drugs. which might take years, might never happen. We can only hope. But in truth, it's mostly hopeless. The fight against doping is doomed by human nature itself.
It wouldn't shock me if a big name is caught soon.

you're going to be bitterly disappointed. believe me when I tell you that it's mostly all sparkle and no substance. it's "we're clean, we hate dopers, we're mad at dopers" over the table, and HGH injections under the table.

yeah, he really spilled his guts
It wouldn't surprise me if Sastre dopes. Afterall, he's a pro cyclist, who just won le Tour. However, his performance in this Tour, isn't out of the ordinary, me thinks. That he was able to defend on a 50km TT wasn't a given, but it wasn't far fetched either. Had Evans ridden a topnotch TT, which I believe he's capable of, the Aussie would've won. Sastre never panicked, in fact before this TT, many a pundit would say he didn't have enough time, thus he hadn't been aggresive enough. As it turned out, Sastre won le Tour being the smartest rider. |

Thats news to me and most others. I thought he never confessed at all, just claimed to have only considered doping but nothing more. That was what was reported pretty much everywhere
