Nordic Cycling | Final Farewell
Miguel98
Go Willy, go!!! Grin

sutty68
Willy has that spot in the top five, now he has to defend it Smile

Atlantius
Jakstar: Andy Schleck has a very good shot at winning the Tour on his TT (never thought I would say that...)

SSJ2Luigi: Your are probably right. Pinot needs to have the worst day of his life to lose 2 minutes on the TT Sad

Miguel: That's what I keep telling him Wink

sutty: He will be more determined than he has ever been to a TT before!

Ian Butler
Great stage by Willy! Either way his Tour is a big success Smile

Luis Leon Sanchez
He needs a good TT cause i'm sure De Gendt is a decent time trialist and he doesn't need much time.

Atlantius
Ian: It certainly is. A GC top 10 in his first tour/second GT.

Luis Leon Sanchez: He really needs the TT of his life as I think all the riders placed 6th to 10th have a better TT than him on paper...

Stage 20: Avignon (ITT)

36 km of completely flat TT’ing to settle the final things in the GC. Will it be Duarte or Schleck, who takes the win and will Willy be able to win two minutes back on Pinot?

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-20-2_zps1fc655c9.jpg
Lars Boom is the first of the stage favourites to go out on the course and the Dutch champion sets new best time 2 seconds ahead of German veteran Jens Voigt.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-20-3_zpscbacbfdf.jpg
Cancellara looks to be back to his old self this season and he beats Boom by 24 seconds.

Everyone is so surprised that they forget to take pictures when Roux and Geniez both manage to beat Spartacus by more than a minute.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-20-4_zps1213c83f.jpg
The bad time from his expected biggest rival along with the 20 pts for the green jersey makes Edvald highly motivated when he sets of on the route.

And he does as expected setting new best time in finish 20 seconds faster than Leipheimer.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-20-5_zps6bd9a9c0.jpg
And here we have the key battle today: Ipsen vs Pinot.
Just after Willy went out Edvalds time was beaten by Brajkovic.

On the first intermediate Ipsen is 23 seconds faster than Pinot.
On the second only 13 seconds. No white jersey for Willy then…
In finish it’s 52 seconds, but that doesn’t help much.

Stage 21: Évry – Paris Champs-Élysées

Final trip into Paris for the traditional bunch sprint.

i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-21-2_zpsbfa00934.jpg
For the benefit of the fans Cavendish goes al-out on the intermediate sprint even though no one can catsh up with Boasson Hagen.

As usual there’s plenty of small attacks on the final rounds in Paris, but as just as usual it ends in a bunch sprint.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-21-3_zpsc27a198e.jpg
Envigorated about the memories of his youth Hushovd goes full throttle on his leadout.

So much that Boasson Hagen has trouble hanging on at first and has to burn some energy to catch up with the God of Thunder!
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-21-4_zps6c5ac03c.jpg
With 900 m to the line Boonen comes blasting by Edvald.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-01-TdF-21-5_zps400b721d.jpg
In the end Cavendish is the fastest.

This could have been a very nice sprint had Thor not been so strong in his leadout…

A GC 8th along with the sprinters jersey and two stage wins has to be deemed a success. Just too bad Pinot was that strong in this race.

Nice green points jersey win! Willy has a nice eight place. I think you can be happy about this Tour. Wink

Ian: He did do a good job. Just too bad he's too old now to win a GT youth jersey Sad

Luis Leon Sanchez: In deed not, but I think most CT-teams would be pretty a happy with a GC 2nd in Tour de France Wink

sutty: Winning green without winning bunch sprints is coming kind of a speciality for the team Wink

Miguel: In deed. That's two GT top 10's - why not repeat that in Spain?

Jakstar: Grin

SSJ2Luigi: Well, signing Cavendish IRL would boost their chances...

MrUfo: I agree. All-in-all a good Tour!

Tour of the Czech Republic

A warm-up race for some of the Vuelta-riders as well as a chance for a couple of the Tour-riders to show themselves without so much pressure.
Bøchman was supposed to use the race to sharpen his form before his favourite WT-race Eneco Tour, but unfortunately his preparations were ruined by a crash in training.

As usual in CT-races we went for the win every single day putting everything on the line.
On the first stage a break involving Rasmus Sterebo was given much more space than should have been allowed. Rasmus tried to go solo with 6 km to go since Lucas Sebastian Haedo and others were certain to beat him in a sprint. He didn’t gain anything from it, but was right to do so none the less.
We were the only team working for the last 50 km trying to still keep a bit of the GC in play, but still lost 16 minutes to the break...

The second stage was called a mountain stage by the organizers. I dare say Willy and Vegard were rather surprised to see how fast the mountains ended here compared to in France!
Nevertheless it turns in to some crazy racing with Laengen pulling 3-4 minutes ahead of the peloton alone pretty much all day.
Near the finish Willy and Amador attacked and joined the Norwegian out front. Amador got rid of Vegard, but Ipsen was fit enough to win the final uphill sprint. His first win this year!
Haedo was having a great day and still has 6 minutes to Ipsen.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-23-Czech-1_zps8ab7fe17.jpg

Stage 3 was a flat one and time for Kristoff to shine.
A few riders hadn’t received the memo about today being a bunch sprint, so they kept on attacking.
The Swedish Champion did a great job leading out his Norwegian counterpart for a clear win. Alexanders first win in the champions jersey.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-23-Czech-2_zpse0cbc8df.jpg

26 km of TT’ing on the 4th day should spell a new jersey for Dowsett, who were only 20 seconds behind Haedo.
Ludvigsson made best time with only 20 riders to go, but was beaten soon after by Taylor Phinney.
No one could match the American, but as expected Haedo lost his GC lead to Alex Dowsett.

When looking at the stage profile of stage 5 the first though that came to mind was: “This is just a stage for Tobias”. So he went in a break. As expected Endura only controlled them enough to defend the jersey and Ludvigsson beat the three others in the final sprint.
i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t605/Atlantius_PCM/2015%20Volvo%20Sas/07-23-Czech-3_zps71c939be.jpg

On the day of the final summit finish we put in the pressure all day with Ludvigsson and Laengen.
Dowsett burned his team mates out chasing us and at the foot of the final climb Willy gave it all he had hoping to make things literally explode.

And so he did!

Stage Results

Stage 1: L.S. Haedo (Champion) / Dowsett / Dujardino
