What an amazing start into this Tour! Great prologue and a very nice first stage where Astana totally dominated the stage finish. Contador will destroy his rivals with this team
Greipel already out of the limit in stage 1 is really bad but I´m looking forward to the next stages
@roturn, keep it just up for the next 20 years It´s just awesome to follow your story!
@emmea, thanks to you for this great variant, you make this Tour just epic! |

Thanks all. Really appreciated all these nice comments.
@CountArach & hillis91 & mowinckel91: Will give my best to continue like this.
@Alakagom & tsmoha: Indeed less accidents so far than in the early season. Just Van Der Velde is still injured but it`s in his season break. Lampre really failed on this first stage. Sanchez and Fuglsang are doing well, just a bit afraid that Lowe can`t help a tiny bit in the mountains.
@ tombola: Vandenbroeck could be a podium contender on a course like this. A podium with Sanchez is impossible for sure. Astana and Leopard will have ~4-5 guys in the top 10 in the end I think.
@Vangerner: Indeed, Greipel, Brown and also Hutarovich are all 80+ but low hill stats.
@ Pellizotti & DJP19: Thanks. A promising start. Hopefully he will stay in the top 10 for the rest of the Tour.
@Chrica04: Indeed some contenders are gone. But still Boonen, Cavendish, Sagan, Boasson Hagen, Davis and many more there.
@Batista15: Leopard`s team is even stronger I think. So these two teams will battle each other and so destroy all other riders including Sanchez probably. ;( Greipel wasn`t in his best shape probably, Brown and Hutarovich aren`t just made for hills. And the 20 years ^^ I will try to keep this story up as long as possible. If possible even with PCM 11.
@Emmea: Well it was a very hard first stage. Some riders out of form probably. And Astana and Leopard doing a really high pace. Also Hunter and Meyer were close I think. These two definitely won`t finish the Tour, when it continues like this. But quite sure it will be epic. |

Tour de France - Stage 3
Porto Vecchio - Bastia
It`s the last day on Corsica before going to Belgium/North France. So another day for the climbers before starting some flat stages.
10 riders in a very strong breakaway. Some of them already were in front yesterday and aiming for the KoM jersey. They will feel their legs later in the 3 weeks for sure.
Hupond (Skil), Grabovskyy (Farnese), Vaugrenard (FDJ), MartÃnez (Euskaltel), Spilak (RadioShack), Kennaugh (Sky), Silin (HTC), Canuti (Colnago), Posthuma (Rabobank) and Nuyens (Liquigas).
On the long climb in the middle of the stage it`s especially Cadel Evans, Velits and Grivko doing a high pace. So riders like Hunter and Meyeer, who already lost contact on the first climbs and then came back on the flat part fall back again. Just ~100 riders left in the peloton.
One of the riders falling back is Tejay Van Garderen. The favourite for the U25 ranking and a top 10 contender is obviously more injured from yesterdays crash than expected. What a shame for the young American. He is already 12 min back and have to give up all ambitions today.
Last climbs of the day and now Astana takes the gloves off and pulls an incredible pace. Velits, Schleck and Soler at the front working for Contador. You couldn`t have much stronger helpers. Several riders fall back now.
Unfortunately also Fuglsang isn`t able to follow the 25 rider group with Sanchez. He is a great climber but not that strong on hills as his team mate. But he isn`t alone. Also the yellow jersey of Cancellara is falling back now as also Brajkovic, Leipheimer, Karpets, Anton Gerdemann, Evans, Cobo Acebo or Rogers.
Contador attacked on the last climb in the hope to gain some seconds. Andy Schleck immediately follows. He is obviously stronger than Gesink, who was allowed to ride on his own in the Tour de Suisse. Also Sanchez on the right is doing very well accelerating a bit.
In the end everything cam together again and the sprint started. Contador had a very small advantage left and so he wins todays stage ahead of Vandenbroeck and Wiggins. Sanchez as 10th with another good result.
GC riders losing time: S.Sanchez, Monfort (+39), Karpets (+1'32), Fuglsang, Braijkovic, Anton, Evans, Rogers (+2'25), Mollema (8'00), Van Garderen (+25'42)

Loving the fact that Frank is working for Alberto against Andy quite notably already!

Pity that Fuglsang couldn't keep up, maybe the Polkadot for him now?

Great job, you've got Luis Leon inside the top-3 in the GC. Let's hope he keeps a good form. |

Thanks all. Indeed a hell of a start into a GT.
Frank working against his brother is very weird, but that`s PCM.
Polkadot with Fuglsang could be a possibility. We`ll see.
Sanchez will keep his good form, but in teh high mountains and there a lot of them in this variant he won`t keep the podium.
Before another stage report some new transfer news. I will present my new riders somewhere in between the reports from now on.
As said in earlier news my main goal is to get some more Americans into my squad. As the team is already very strong I won`t go for any big names with 80+.
I have 7 free slots for new riders. Maybe 8, when I don`t renew with Brent Rowe. One is already taken by Souchon, the young French stage racer talent I presented earlier the season.
Newest transfer of this transfer period:
Brent Bookwalter is in the best cycling age with 28 years. He already collected some experiences with BMC. We will give him the chance to ride for a ProTour team. He will mainly be a helper for our leader but also filling breakaways.
His biggest success is a stage win in the 2010 Tour of Qinghai Lake. In 2010 and 2011 he was 14th in the Tour of Oman.
We are happy to have him in our team for 2013. |

Nice result on stage 3 with LLS. Third overall now, looking good for the next stages. A pity that Fuglsang couldn't follow, but he'll do better in the mountains I hope. Very nice reporting.

@ Pellizotti2: Thanks. Hope so, too.
@ mowinckel91: I guess you are right. But lets see if Andy can challenge him or if other riders like Wiggins or Vandenbroeck can surprise.
@ chrica04: Thanks.
Tour de France - Stage 4
Bruxelles - Roubaix
After Corsica the teams were brought to Belgium. From there they towards Roubaix and pass the famous cobbled sections in this area.
So the Tour de France continues on a very spectacular level.
12 riders in todays break. None of them is a danger for the overall but some of them are very good classic rider.
Veelers (Skil), Quinziato (Katusha), Guldhammer (Leopard), Roux (FDJ), Vaitkus (RadioShack), Gutiérrez (Movistar), Bernucci, Paolini (Colnago), Roulston (Omega), Langeveld (Rabobank), Castroviejo (Euskaltel) and Guillou (Ag2r).
Best cobble rider here are Langeveld, Guldhammer and Veelers, so we might have to watch them.
Lowe and Meyer are doing the pace next to Team Sky. Vansummeren isn`t in top form yet, but Haussler picked this stage as main goal. And he really feels great today.
With 100km the advance was at 8 minutes and decreasing. Looking good for the peloton now.
The group reaches the first section and now the weaker riders can`t follow any longer.
Guldhammer is attacking out of the break and accelerates a lot. Much more than I expected so the gap got even bigger instead of smaller and with 20km left he still hast 3'21 advance. Time to react.
Haussler did immediately. With a high pace he jumped out of the peloton. Vansummeren and Hunter, who prepared this move are also ahead of the favourites. But will it be enough to close the gap.
Veelers closed the gap to Guldhammer and together they entered the velodrome. Obviously these two will fight for the win.
Indeed. Veelers is the stronger sprinter and had no problem to take this one home. But also the young Dane can be happy with this 2nd. A big career is possible in future.
2'28 later Haussler finished as 5th behind Langeveld and Roulston. It was a strong performance by the Australian. Unfortunately the break was too strong in the end and so he couldn`t celebrate a fantastic win.
Also Vansummeren overtook some of the former break and finished as 10th.
The peloton in the end even lost more than 6 minutes as they couldn`t go too fast in the knowledge of their leader`s problems on cobbles.
Except of Lowe, who finished last today all other Garmin riders including a surprisingly strong Löw finished in this big group.
Other favourites lost some time again as they struggled on the cobbles.
GC riders losing time:
Arroyo, Basso, Nibali, Monfort, S.Sanchez, Anton, Menchov (+2'50), Soler (+4'13)

Totally agree with Batista15: Nice screens and a great stage and huge effort by Haussler! Nice win for Veelers, but Haussler with an incredible performance, gaining almost 4 minutes on the peloton! (I can't wait to play this tour, too )
