His strengths and weaknesses are very much like Hagen's.

And just like Hagen, he has lunatic fans who guarantee he can be a GT GC rider some day

His biggest fan is probably Wiggins Wink
And this guy showed how to become a very good climber out of nothing.

Well Hagen has, unlike Phinney, some ability to cope with hills or even attack them

Phinney does not even have that, although he is probably a tad more talented on cobbles.

Phinney won't start tomorrow if it rains.

Scratch the Hagen comparisons, he's the new Freire.

Do I respect him for dropping out? no. But if you crash hard enough to lose 20 min, I can understand.

It's not about retiring. That's understandable. It's the "if it rains" part that's funny.

Van Staeyen continues to be impressive.

Look out for him, Boeckmans and Rasmussen as sprinters for the near future. They've all had VERY good results this year. One of them could be the next elite sprinter in the sport.

No, Edvald is the next elite sprinter Wink Hehe

On a more serious note: Rasmussen has impressed this year. I have to agree with you on that Smile

Wat 'Chu talkin' bout Hillis?

I mentioned Van Staeyen because he won the Memorial Rik Van Steenbergen ahead of some good sprinters, to add to a ton of good results this year.

Talansky very well! Wasn't expecting Eijssen winning this stage.

Dude, get ready. Now that Lance's career is slowly fading away, his fans will need someone to follow and you better believe it is going to be Phinney.

Slagter now 3th in GC. Go Slagter.

What about Van Garderen or Talansky? Grin

It's quite nice to see another bunch of potential very good riders from Colombia. The problem is, there won't be many of them in Europe, because they will get much more money at home, and because there is no Colombian team which comes from Colombia to the big European races, I hope Movistar, Geox, Serramenti or any other team will sign plenty of them. It's quite sad, when some of really good cyclist from there, never come to Europe.

Eijsen rode away in the downhill preceding the final climb, it was raining

Atapuma made up a TON of time on the final climb, but not enough to get back
Expect Atapuma to seriously own the next MTF finish this weekend
