Strydz : true, but I meant stuff like The Getaway or The Extender, where you lead the ranking (I could challenge you while I was on holidays, but not now, especially now that I've started running again).
There's also Allan from Denmark who joined us, and I can't figure who he is on PCM.Daily, plus Landry from the USA who's one of Bushwackers' mate, but I'm not sure he's on this forum. |

I was wondering who Landry was but gee he puts in some impressive rides. You do realise Aquarius that if you crept up to my k count I might get competitive
I must admit I'm feeling a little fatigued this week after a few busy months on the bike plus working 5 "days" a week. Still would like to reach 2000 for the month. I have just re-adjusted my handlebar position in the last week and like the more aggressive position it gives me... Also I am moving up the list to gain a start in the Tour du Bright, really want a start in that event, also looking at competing in the Mt Baw Baw classic in C or D grade, I do well on steep climbs so looking forward to Baw Baw

Perhaps silly question, but how can I sign up with the PCM.daily group in Strava?

After a cracking season (if I do say so myself), I've ended up as the 4th best 2nd cat rider in my region, with three 2nd places, three 3rd places and a further five top 10s in races.
After spending seasons wondering how you possibly get into teams, who to ask, etc, I've been approached by 3 teams, sent my CV off to one, whom gave me a ring yesterday. And the fall back option of remaining riding for the shop I work in. Hopefully I'll get into the team I sent my CV off to, and get the chance to do Premier Calenders, possibly a round or two of the Tour Series and get my foot in the door towards being elite level.
What does this mean? October is taking a hammering on Strava! Lights sorted, weather's ok at the moment, motivation is high enough, and I've just had three weeks off pretty much. Perfect time to pre-empt Winter training. |

Perhaps you should still take a short break if you don't want to be totally done come May ?
Congratulations anyway. Has there been something in your training that you've changed ? Or how do you explain your better results this season ?
Also... what's the structure of amateur cycling in your country ?
Here it's Pros, then cat. 1, 2, 3, then another category named pass-cycling for guys with no results (split in 4 sub categories), and a last one for those who barely race (pass-loisirs they're called, that'd be leasure-license or something).
There must be like 12 000 guys in 1 (maybe 2 thousands of them), 2 (3 to 4 000) and 3 (6 thousands guys). Cat. 1 can take part in .2 pro races.
@dienblad : go to "explore", search for a cycling club named PCM.daily, then join. It's us. |

I've had three weeks of about 2-3 hours riding, so I'm taking advantage of the better weather now to get in a month of good training before taking another week or two off/really easy. Then I'll hit the proper long miles, transitioning into race prep training by January.
Results this season? Combination of finding out what works for me, repeating the same training at a consistently good level for three seasons now and growing some balls/having confidence in my own ability. Plus no longer finding coming 2nd or a top 10 as acceptable. I'm looking for the win in races.
Structure in the country:
Elite (Pros are also given elite licenses as standard), need 300 BC points to get/keep and elite license. About 400 in the country.
1st Cat, need 200 points to get one, but only 100 to keep it. About 1000 1st cat riders.
2nd cat, need 40 points to get one, but only 25 to keep it. This year I got 139 points, so kept it pretty easily. Quite a lot of 2nd cats in the UK. I'd imagine 3-4,000.
3rd cat, need 10 to get, and can never lose it. Most juniors are out of the 3rd cat rankings in half a season, and other than that you have older men, those just starting, those who train 3 hours a week, etc.
4th cats, starting point, everyone who gets a license starts as a 4th cat.
Basically, I need a 1st cat to get into the UK National RR Championships. That's the aim one day. |

Oh, the joy of breaking your front derailleur wire when you're 60 km away from home...
Thankfully I can still spin legs like a young man. () 39x12 isn't that bad, and as it was mostly uphill or downhill I managed to make it home without harming my average speed too much...
It seems my Summer mileage is starting to pay off, I know it's just an estimate, but Strava has calculated an average of 211 Watts for my 4h04 ride, which is more or less 2,9 W/kg. Not that bad I think. |

I need help from someone with a better mechanical knowledge than I have.
I'm about to buy my powertap rear wheel hub. Thing is it's delivered with a body for a 11 crowns cassette. As I don't want (can't reasonably afford) to change the whole transmission for a 11 gears yet, I'm wondering if it's possible to recuperate the 10 gears body from my other wasted hub ? The key factor being, of course, the cassette's and body's width...
It's all in Campy stuff, if that matters. |

Me too! Happened yesterday. I got really angry because he thought it was funny. At first.
His window was down, so he heard when I said "Where the fuck are you going?! You fucking idiot!"
He was driving a van for a hotel just up my road. I also know the owner of the hotel. Went to have a chat with him after my ride

I really only have experience with Shimano and a little with SRAM but it is not just a simple change over, you should be able to set-up with a spacer or 2 on the free hub body so to run a 10 speed set-up. With a lot of Shimano stuff going 11 speed now you can but 11 speed set-up wheels and use a spacer so to still run with a 10 speed drive train.

HAHA! yeah there are a few routes I use that I have stayed away from these last few weeks due to swooping magpies... Talking about idiots on the road I have to close of contact almost everytime I head out, some drivers just don't give a toss

As far as i know, Campy bodies didn't change because the cassetes got slimmer (unlike the new Shimano/Sram cassetes). All freehub bodies i know are 9/10/11-speed compatible so you should be able to use your old gear without problems.
