Probably just for the WT points if it happens. Freire won't race.
Apparently the offer was for Freire to race until April/May, then he'd become a DS for them. I don't think he's gonna accept any offer though.

I've posted that in the top of page 102, but now that it comes in the media. |

Galdeano said that they made the offer back in July, Freire immediately replied he was retiring, and that was the end of it. 3 months ago.

They made him the offer, he said I'm retiring and that's it, they said that's fine, we just need your points, you dont need to race, and he said no thanks, that's no way of ending a career. Now they are looking to hire riders of any nationality that can give them the points to stay in the Pro-Tour, while Txurruka is looking for a new team. Pretty absurd but Galdeano is just playing with the cards that the UCI has given him with that horrid point system.

I'm expecting Euskaltel to drop down to PCT next year no matter what. Argos will probably get the license they've applied for, taking Euskaltel's place.

Possibly. So that WT spot goes from a one-dimensional team to a slightly more successful one-dimensional team.

Exactly. They can still show their colours in mountainious races through Wildcards, but even though Argos is probably just as a one-trick pony as Euskaltel are, they deserve it more imo.

Yeah. But to be fair, Argos is a stronger squad than Euskaltel.
Apart from Anton and Samu, they don't really have any top riders. Ion Izagirre looks like a man for the future, but he's not there yet.

I said "slightly more successful" after all.
I don't really care which team gets the spot, really. Both will be in their season goals pretty much guaranteed, and whoever gets it will suck in certain WT races. But yes, Argos are stronger.

Mikel Nieve.
It would be a shame to see the Orange livery drop down to Pro-Continental, but it's the chances are high. |

On the bright side, if Euskatel get relegated to PC, atleast we'll have less crashes in WT races.

Technicalities.
I don't see him as an absolute top level rider though. He's an excellent climber, but not in on the same level as Anton or Sanchez.

Don't know if it's been said yet, I may have missed it, but Nuyens will go to Garmin. Contract is signed. |

I don't think so. There are just so many more sprints, so a sprinters team have many more chances to look good.

Yet, for some odd reason, teams rarely hire sprinters for anything but filling the last blanks in their roster. That or the points they've scored the previous season... |

Lol, how can you say a team is stronger than the other when one team only has climbers and the other only sprinters+domestiques. That doesn't make sense . Though it's true that Argos is more succesfull (more wins) and they have more CQ-points+ they've signed some promising youngsters (Barguil, Janse Van Rensburg).
