Good start with Sanchez, beating Wiggins & Leipheimer, only loosing 8sec to Martin and 6 to Contador, a bit disapointing result for Fuglsang |

Also i advise you some stages can be very hard to load
For Le Havre stage, for example, 8 min can be needed.

@ cunego59: Thanks. Unfortunately Vansummeren`s form is just 77 in the moment. He would have liked the next 3 stages the most.
@ Anonymer: Thanks. Leipheimer is no longer a big climber, but still one of the best in timetrials, so yes, good ride by Sanchez. Fuglsang was a little bit disappointing, but he is just 74 in TT and a similar time than Basso, Gesink etc, with similar stats.
@ emmea: I know. Yesterday during the AToC I opened all Giro and Austria stages in the viewer to get the correct values. 2-3 stages really loaded a bit longer, but if I can open them in the viewer, they will also open in the game. |

Good start and i wish you luck. I suggest you try a breakaway in the next stage and get the yellow jersey. When i played this variant, the breakaway succeded with a pretty good gap. |

Thanks all.
@ Mowinckel91: Nice to have new readers. Hope you enjoy.
Tour de France - Stage 2
Ajaccio - Bonifacio
It couldn`t be a harder stage to start a Grand Tours. Lots of climbs on Corsica today. Except of very few sprinters as Boasson Hagen or Sagan, we don`t expect any fast men. So the top favourites must take care from the very first day on.
Very bad weather conditions. Nibali is the first, who recognizes it. He crashed in one of the descents but with the help of some team mates he came back into the peloton.
Lots of attacks in the first kilometers. But all riders including David Millar were caught again. After 20km a new group created a gap of 2min.
Nuyens (Liquigas), Spilak (RadioShack), Silin (HTC), Failli (Farnese), Vaugrenard (FDJ), Vansummeren (Garmin) and Cornu (Skil).
So a very strong group now in front.
After the 2nd KoM sprint Tony Martin attacked out of the peloton. The KoM leader wants more points obviously. Bad news for the group as the peloton is holding the gap under 2min now.
Especially Leopard and Astana are doing the pace. With Gerdemann, Porte and Velits some strong riders are doing the pace. Not that bad for our two leaders when they are exhausted quite early.
On the long climb after 105km the group got caught again. Now Peter Sagan and Jerome Pineau attacked and lead the race. Both of them are great puncheurs but no real danger for the final GC.
Fuglsang had good legs and attacked on top of the mountain to get the 22 points as 3rd. Tony Martin, Serpa, Kreuziger and Casar also sprinted for these points.
Still 40km to go and surprisingly just Löw is with his leaders. Vansummeren is excused as he was in the group for a long time. But Lowe again rides under his potential. Therefore the young German is doing very well so far in his first GT.
On the last small hill Andy Schleck attacks and Contador follows. Our riders are staying in the peloton to save their energy for the last week. Also I don`t expect them to create a gap.
Astana made a very fast pace in the end. Frank Schleck wins this stage ahead of his team mate Soler and Txurruka. LL Sanchez as 5th and Fuglsang as 11th within the same time.
Later we read that Anton and Van Garderen crashed and are lightly injured. Both of them lost time today.
Also some riders already felt out of the time limit on the first real stage. What a start into this Tour.
GC riders losing time: Monfort, Nibali, Basso, Van Garderen (all +1'23), Mollema (+ 3'12) and Anton (+7'52)
Riders out of time limit: Jongen, Van Hummel (Skil), Greipel (HTC), Brown (Astana), Leezer, Bewley (RadioShack), Hutarovych (FDJ), Ovechkin (Euskaltel), Hondo (Katusha) and Blythe (Sky)

Great start to the Tour for Garmin. Everything going according to plan and the accidents and falls from the early season are gone now. Basso and Nibali rather surprising loosing time, anyhow better for Garmin anyway

Very nice, hopefully LL will get one place better, that's enough I think! I wonder what Vandenbroeck could do.
I think the only way to beat Contador is by Team Leopard, they have such a strong team!
Good luck!

Wow, that is very quick, so many riders out of the Tour! Greipel, Brown are good sprinters.... |

Epic first stage, great for Haussler as those sprinters are gone! |

How can you get out of time for some riders after stage 1? Bad form?
