Luxembourg is here.
Two in the top 5 is a great result. Andy Schleck, believe it or not, comes here in good form and loses less than '20 on the prologue. A good omen for our win the GC goal. |

After this TT, Verboven must be feeling so basque now.
Since Walker likes to be the first attacker of any Stage Race he participiates in, it's great to see him off the ramp as the first guy. He definitely keeps his eagerness even in the fight against the clock.

You know those annoying idiots on Youtube that post "First" on every video? That's Dermot.

STAGE 1
Profile:
Favourites:
Carlo Calzone ( AND), Mark Renshaw ( BEL), Jurgen Roelandts ( LTB)
Race:
174km to go
The 146 riders are at the start of the second stage! 174 kilometers separate the riders from the start in Luxembourg to the (propable) mass sprint in Bascharage. Let’s go!
169km to go
The first attackers of the day! Aberasturi ( EUS), Avery ( CSS), Delpech ( BSE) and Domagalski ( CJR) are the first four.
154km to go
They are joined by Canola ( BAR), Eichler, Matzka (both TNE) and Tan ( RVL) to form a group of eight! The peleton hasn’t quite let them go yet, the gap is just 1 minute!
143km to go
No, the peleton has caught up with them again, but Eichler doesn’t give up yet!
129km to go
He is followed by a bunch of riders, including most of his former companions. Domagalski wins the first mountain sprint of the day! But the peleton is catching up on them again!
114km to go
And finally we have a morning break! 3 riders: Avery, Canola and Matzka succesfully sneaked away! They currently have a 2 minute gap
80km to go
Canola wins the second and final mountain sprint of today. The gap has increased to over 5 minutes, and Dermot Walker ( TNE) suffered a puncture.
57km to go
The Italian also wins the intermediate sprint. Their gap has reached 6 minutes, but the peleton is already closing in by the hard work of Androni and Lotto. Walker managed to return to the peleton.
26km to go
The break is within 2 minutes now with 26 kilometers to go, and Urtasun ( EUS) decides to attack, to be followed by Rast ( RLT).
16km to go
Oh no, massive crash in the peleton. A long, incomplete list of victims, and then I'm only talking about the guys who actually crashed: Boom, Martens (both BEL), Gadret ( ALM), Gatto ( VIN), Gavazzi ( AND), Gruzdev ( AST), Schroder ( EUC), Schleck ( RLT), Vantomme ( CRE), Walker, Zakarin ( RVL)...
And race leader Gaudin ( EUC)...
And Shaqif ( MTN)! This will surely have an impact on the rest of the Tour!
13km to go
The leading group of 5 riders is almost caught by the first peleton, which counts 33 riders. It includes the entire Lotto team, Alinejad ( RLT) as highest GC-rider, Calzone ( AND), Renshaw ( BEL) and some other ‘minor’ sprinters. Behind, the rest is divided in small groups, hard to get an oversight at the moment. Most riders were either involved in the crash, caught behind or called back to help an teammate.
7000m to go
The break is caught. The winner will certainly come out of this 37-rider group. The Lotto-train is already running in front, while everyone else is looking at Roelandts wheel. 1 and a half minute behind this group is a group of 5 riders, including Anton, Izagirre (both EUS) and Voeckler ( EUC). The remaining riders are even further back.
3500m to go
No, I was wrong. Belkin has formed a train on the left for Bos (not Renshaw), and a suprising Champion System train for Avery, who has been in the break all day long. And we still have the big Lotto train for Roelandts.
2000m to go
Dehaes will be his lead-out man for today. The other trains disappeared. Lobato ( EUS), Calzone, Drucker ( AJW), Petit ( COF), Furan ( CJR) and Alinejad are on Roelandts’ wheel.
1000m to go
1 kilometer to go and Dehaes gives Roelandts an EPIC leadout. Others are trying to get round his back.
400m to go
But maybe Dehaes kept on a bit too long. Lobato is in pole position with 400 meters to go, followed by Calzone and Roelandts!
100m to go
3 riders on a row, who will win?
0m to go
Roelandts is raising his arms, he beats Calzone by a few millimeters. Lobato finishes third, Alinejad fourth and Petit in fifth. Roelandts is the new GC-leader, with Gaudin, Shaqif and Boom all behind. Alinejad takes the second place there, ahead of Calzone.
Martens edges out Verboven ( EUS) in the 'losers' sprint for 44th, 2 minutes behind the leading group. De Negri ( VIN), Jacobs ( TSV), Lutsenko ( AST) and Modolo ( AND) did not finish.

Well that was an unexpected turn of events. I fear how the AI will act to the current situation possibly using Antón and Izagirre as helpers for Lobato
Also: Euskaltel not completely destroyed by a massive crash. These certainly are new times in cycling
Good job by the team getting two riders in the stage top 10 at least

So close for Calzone but a good resut none the less. My leader Chiarini stayed with the front group so a top 10 in GC is possible.

Of course Schleck crashes.....!
Alinejad looks in fantastic form here, Selwink must be feeding him his Friesland stew!
-- A breakaway usually takes the GC in the tour of the Luxembourg, maybe Andy can get into a break? |

Dafuq was that, our two leaders crash and the rest of the team doesn't wait? Then Renshaw and Bos fuck up the sprint and manage 10th and 12th?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
