Commonwealth Games - Race Story
Photo spam time
A large field of 140 started the race.
Although a lot of them were dropped before even the first lap was over. Also on the first lap, Peter Kennaugh went on a solo attack.
Nobody joined him, and he spent well over 100km in the lead by himself. Australia had to use up a few of their riders (just 6 man teams) to keep the gap under control. Then it rained very hard for quite a while, and I got absolutely soaked.
Kennaugh was caught by 3: Geraint Thomas, Jack Bauer and Scott Thwaites
They left him behind
Final lap, Thomas attacks.
He got a 40 second gap, then punctured. Neutral service was required, as it had been for Tom Moses a couple of laps previously.
For Moses they took so long that rather than finish in the Top 10, the Englishman got left behind and had to abandon. But Thomas got going again still in the lead.
And won!

26 photos so far, more tomorrow.
Also for the Women's race: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sumofma...103938766/, which was won by Lizzie Armitstead.

Unusual tactics from Kennaugh but it made an entertaining race, the weather certainley contributed with 4 seasons in one race also a shame to see the comissionaires taking riders out of the race even on the last lap Sean Downey was on course for 13th place

Yes, that seemed very harsh. 10 minutes down after 13 laps is not so far behind that the rider should be stopped from finishing. It's such bad luck for the likes of Downey, and Moses who had his mechanical, as finishing the race would have been such a big achievement for them and perhaps a good way to advertise themselves to teams.

I would have loved to have seen Kennaugh go all the way and win , but i was more pleased when Geraint finally crossed that line though |

David Belda takes his second win in Portugal. César Veloso keeps the lead in GC with 29" on LLS.

In the case the sprinters hang on over the categorized climbs, Hofland looks like a good bet.
Personally, I hope Zabel gets the BMC support and not Wyss.

I was wondering where the stream went and well apparently the start\finish town of Cedar City is having a power outage. The Tour of Poland strikes abroad!

Do you know if there is any chance the video will be back on Tour Tracker? I don't know if it's worth to wait before going asleep

Unfortunately the tracking seems to be broken now, gaps and distance differ from what we see in video.

Too easy for Moreno Hofland and Team Belkin, long day on the front of the peloton well worth it in the end.
