WORLD ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIP
200KM TO GO
The first real break of the day contained five riders who at the moment have 4m 52s on the pack, they are Hebik/CZE, Hayman/AUS, Popkov/UKR, Cardoso/POR and Uran/COL
180KM TO GO
The five are really working well together
160KM TO GO
Serebryakov/RUS became the first victim of the wet conditions and all the team were sent back to pace him into the peleton
140KM TO GO
They have increased there lead to over eight minutes
120KM TO GO
Russia are now at the front of the peleton as they try to organise a chase
As we enter the final one hundred kilometres race radio tells us that the lead is 6m 32s
Germany are now helping Russia with the chase
The lead is now under five minutes
The leaders go through the feed point with 4m 23s in hand
The peleton is in a long thin line as the pace finally goes up a gear
The lead is coming down really quickly now as tiredness plays its part
The chase continues from the peleton
Alessandro Ballan/ITA attacks from the main bunch
Cardoso/POR has been dropped but the bad news is Cancellara/SWI is now chasing at 49s
Uran/COL has gone off on his own
All the breakaway riders have been swept up by the peleton as they speed up ready for the finale
Boonen/BEL kicks for the line as we reach the red kite
But he doesn't have enough left in the tank as the Australian Matthew Goss pips him to the line to become World Champion

baia - Serebryakov did well considering he crashed early on and now i may ask someone if they are interested in making the Weslsh jersey for me |

Serbryakov with a real good performance here but I suppose that could be expected after his TOB domination. Too bad he couldn't quite get a medal.

547984 - It was a really good performance from him
Shonak - The crash and chase at the beginning of the race must have taken lots of his energy unfortunately

Great result for Gary. Who knows maybe next year he will be riding in the Welsh national kit! (If it is invented)
