sutty68 - Boonen was a real pain in the ass! But it was a nice race, overall Wink

wogsrus - Very true!

maxime86 - Thanks a lot! Stijn is becoming a true beast Pfft

PCM rulezz - Yes it was. Old has to make way for the Young, but try to tell that to Boonen Grin

krisa - He sure is, he's very consistent this season.

alex valceanu - I'm glad to hear that, hope you keep following it Wink Stijn is surely having his most consistent season, I hope it lasts! Only time will tell. In a few more 100 pages we'll know Grin

And 2000, yeey!

Got home later than expected, so that was it for today! Tomorrow Stijn will tackle Paris - Bruxelles. And maybe the Worlds will also be on the program of tomorrow!

Thanks for following!

BMC Racing Team tweeted
Gilbert will have a strong domestique in Van Gent, and he is only 24! Good job from the bloke

I wanted to try this too!

Any time Wink Though Stijn is already 24 (time sure flies), it's Willy who's only still 23. But his birth day is around the WC, so I don't know if he'll be 23 on the day of the race Pfft

rogvi97
What are you talking about? It's stands 24 there Pfft

This is a great story Ian. Keep it up

Lets hope that Stijn rules in Paris - Bruxelles Wink

Congrats with a few things:
- 100 pages (only 140+ to go to match my story Wink )
- Congrats with 2000 replies
- COngrats with Stijn winning Plouay and that display of power in Overijse *Cough*doped*Cough*

rogvi97 - Oh that's the way you play Pfft

Jakstar22 - I'll try, thanks Wink

FreitasPCM - Nothing more you can do against an unchained Boonen!

TTspecialist - Well, he still needs that good nickname Pfft

sutty68 - It'd be great! I wonder how strong the field will be.

dienblad - Your story will always be legend Shock but nothing stopping me to try to match the length! I wouldn't necessarily say Stijn is doped, rather all the rest was clean... Grin

Paris - Bruxelles later today!

Paris - Bruxelles

Preview

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/pb01_zpsb7021248.jpg

Stijn: Without Tom Boonen at the start list, I'm hoping to sprint for the win!

Willy: Today there's a strong wind, coming from the North. The day will be tough. This close to the World Championship, I won't take risks so I won't help in the sprint.

The Race

Willy Wouters

Dumoulin went in the attack and was surprised that nobody followed. Almost 200 km he rode solo today. When he was caught, he didn't even had the energy left to finish.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/pb02_zps32771962.jpg

Stijn Van Gent

Our lead-out got disturbed by late attackers. Boom was dangerously close to the finish when we started the sprint.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/pb03_zpsd7d38ba3.jpg

With the help of the slipstream of Boasson Hagen, I came out pretty fast!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/pb04_zpsb427ad6b.jpg

I had to go faster still, if I wanted to catch Boom. Luckily he didn't have an acceleration yet and stiffed up completely!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/pb05_zpsee903d2e.jpg

And another victory! Amazing!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/pb06_zpsabe7ab62.jpg

I won in front of Apollonio and Boom.

World Championships

The next race for Willy is the World Championship Time Trial, followed by the Road Race. Stijn is part of the selection but is among the reserves, not sure he'll ride just yet!

Some major news though, absolute top favorite Phil Gilbert has a fractured skull and is unable to race. Jan Bakelants has a broken elbow and can't participate either. Belgium's leader will be Jelle Vanendert.

See you at the Worlds,
Willy, and hopefully Stijn

cunego59
Congrats on another win. Why didn't you race the canadian classics, btw? In your shape, I'm sure at least one of them would have been in your pocket Wink

Ian Butler
cunego59 - Well, to be honest, I don't really like them in the game Pfft the profile is too hilly and in my experience, it's too difficult to get my leaders water in the finale, and they always end up losing energy because they have no water Pfft

So I opted for Paris - Bruxelles Wink

Very, very exciting WC ITT coming up! But I think I'll race the Road Race as well and make 1 big report of it!

It was nice to Stijn produce another Great victory Smile, but you uploaded the wrong results Frown

Wow, that is just.. Wow.

How does a man respond to that? Haha

By the way, I didn't realise they were already 24! Time flies when you're at 100 pages, I guess! Hope you'll keep going at this pace, really good!

Nice win, looking forward to the worlds (and agree about the Canadian Classics - they suck!)

I will finish the season today, after the worlds only two more races, no big reports. Tonight probably the rankings etc!
