Danielson's TT victory in Burgos says very very little to me, in that field.
I would think he would normally be slightly better though. But don't forget Gesink had top 10 finishes in the Tirreno (6th) and Pais Vasco (9th) this year and in the Pais Vasco (5th), Dauphiné (10th) AND most importantly, the Olympic Games (10th)
So it all depends on which course, and what daily form both riders have. The more hilly the time trial is the better Gesink will be compared to Danielson.
And even in completely flat time trials he is not bad (top 15 in top form).
Only exception is prologue-like distances. Or even Monaco this year, that's a bit too short. Gesink is not very good at that.
Anyhow, he was also dutch national champion at the juniors, so he does have some potential for the time trial, more than most people seem to think anyway. |

Kreuziger will be at the Vuelta. With Basso? Wasn't expecting that one. |

It seemed quite obvious to me that Kreuziger rides the Vuelta. I think someone might even have mentioned it here.

Really? I've been on holiday for nearly 3 weeks so have missed a lot. I'm only surprised because I thought they didn't get on at all. Basso may well leave Liquigas at the end of this season anyway. |

I was reading this article in cyclingnews and just couldn't stop laughing with the way they punched Vinokourov's preview:
Alexander Vinokourov (Kaz) Astana
(...)
Aiming for: World domination
CN Prediction: A stage, possible top 10, and selling 'Vino forever' merchandise

Klöden wont start Vuelta...left wrist injury after Eneco crash..he can ride after week..but won't ride Vuelta..
"It was already decided at the Tour de France that he would not do the Vuelta," team spokesman Philippe Maerten
I do not understand that..he was in Vuelta list.
Bad news..but he ride to strong TdF anyway to ride good Vuelta after that..
Conspiracy theory..now Vino can ride Vuelta?
If we looking Vuelta winner..for me Basso is big candidate..

I thought at the beggining of the season that Klöden would be captain in vuelta, oh well he rarely has good form in the last part of the season.
As for Basso i don't know, he didn't ride well in poland. |

Because he was dumb enough to go to Astana. Probably he will start as a helper, then they realise Vino is not that good and let him ride foe himself. Something like van der Broeck in Tour.

Because the public outcry would be much bigger if they just put Vino in the starting list.
This way, Vino is in the list of reserves....and at the last moment someone gets "injured" and pulls out. And Vino goes in to replace him.
That way there's much less time before the race starts for public outrage and its consequences.

Having Vino and Klöden in the same team would create a problem anyway.
I'm only guessing but I think Klödi still holds a grudge against him for 2007 when he destroyed his tour chances. |

Klöden still not have ever been ambition enough or take as goal to be GT winner or team captain.

Depends on who's calling the shots.
Is Bruyneel still in control? If he is... he's got no love for Vino and no incentive to appease the sponsors... he's going to Radioshack anyway.
Has he been removed of all responsability? If so, and the sponsors are in control, then you'd be right.
The best thing for Bruyneel would be to do everything to please Horner... to get him to sign with radioshack. |

Vino hasn't competitively climbed a mountain in years. He'll suffer in the first mountain stage.
