Cavendish' 3rd just confirms that he's going for points jersey. Anyone who believed the statements he made about being happy with 1 stage and not going for green, probably still thinks he only went to Milan San Remo for experience
To be honest I think he was being truthful about both statements. I also think that once he realized he could win MSR he went for it, just as he's going for the green now that he has a stage win and might as well.
Consider that Cavendish has since said about MSR that he purposefully aimed to fool his rival sprinters - by allowing himself to be dropped on climbs in Tirreno and to play down his own aims for the race.
He might just be covering
Covering? Being supposedly bad at hills I suppose?
It was clear even then to those who actually looked beyond the results at the end of the day that Cavendish was not as weak as the likes of Boonen were making out |

Thats not what I meant. He might have said afterwards that it was all part of a plan, so that people didn't think it was because of good form or a slow pace that he stayed on. Regardless of what you think of him, no one would say that Cav has a small ego. |

Please dont confuse me with someone who mindlessly supports a rider with endless praise
The plan helped a slower pace - if people were more worried about Cav there might have been a tougher pace. Of course there was great luck involved that the pace was 'slow' enough for it to come down to a bunch sprint.
Yes Cav has an ego, but that doesnt mean you should doubt everything he says. |

I don't, ruben has that wrapped up (just kidding ruben, please don't kill me)
I normally don't doubt everything Cav says, in fact I like and trust what he says quite a bit (except when it involves scuffs with other sprinters). That said, in this particular case, I think he truly was coming for experience. Was able to win because he was strong enough. And then decided to cover it up as a master plan so that people wouldn't accuse him of getting lucky (which happened anyway). Maybe I'm wrong (hell, I probably am) but thats what I think. |

I still havent seen any quotes that say Cav didnt want or wasnt trying for the green jersey. Just ones saying stage wins comes first and jersey second. That doesnt mean he would give up the chance for green. |

Someone pissed on TSB's Chris Anker Sorensen during the stage. Quite literally. He's a bit upset.
