Some leaders leaving? A member of Evonik who's been incredibly frustrated with their role last season? big bet
All riders knew which role they would have this season so there wasnt much frustration

Well I believe there's been a lack of communication between riders and management, as we, just across the border, heard VERY differently.

Evonik - ELKO concludes the 2020 season as a strong runner-up behind first team PT winner Isostar - Specialized. The team management was never shy about the title ambitions but ended up short in the end. Despite the bittersweet ending of the season, we still have recorded the best season in the history of our cycling team. At this point, we can confirm that the team will be back for next season and will continue to be backed by our two main sponsors Evonik and ELKO.

Crazy depth with all bar 1 rider scoring above 100 points. I don't think I have ever seen that. Well done, and congrats with silver, despite reaching out for the gold!

So close!! Congrats on the great season. Very keen to see what you do this off season to build on this and also to see what kind changed you make to the squad, if any. Have always loved your team building philosophy, so I'm sure there'll some interesting moves lined up.
Looking forward to PTHC as well

Thanks abhi, love to read that you like my team building philosophy
Hard to say what moves will be possible because it obviously depends a lot on the interest of other teams in my riders and the availability lists of others. But I'm ready to mix things up a bit if others go along with it |

Skujins wins B World Road Race
285km on the grueling Green Hell of the Nürnburgring. What sounds like one of the toughest world championship courses in history proved to be the ideal ground for the battle behind puncheurs and climbers.
In the B World Road Race, the startlist included world class riders of both categories with Taaramae and Pluchkin as the most notable climbers and 2agan and Skuj1ns as the most notable puncheurs. In a tough elimination race, more and more riders dropped like flies until the pack was down to 14 chasers and lone attacker Meintjes ahead of them. For a while it looked like Meintjes' attack might stick but thanks to an attack by Sepulveda and chasing from Houle and Areruya, he got caught with about ten kilometers left ahead of the riders. Amidst pouring rain, Toms Skujins countered the catch with a powerful attack and nobody could or wanted to follow and he wasnt seen again by anyone else and won the race with a gap of 46s to the group of (not-)chasers. |

abhi - for sure. He's always shown that he is amongst the worldclass puncheurs and i didnt need further prove for it but am glad i got it. Timing is of course awesome.
without - they also didnt have a bad season. Both have had great highs as well as a couple of lows so i cant complain about their seasons. |

A great season with a very nice finish by Skujins indeed. Happy to see you reach that point having done so much for Latvian cycling in the last years. Looking at the riders that dominated the A-race, it's even more impressive to see how he managed to hold off riders like Pluchkin!
Anyway, really interested in what your plans are during the coming transfer season, and whether they have changed a bit with the latest result, so 'good luck' with renewals and transfers

Congrats again on a wonderful season even if you came up short for the title in the end. Ever since I joined MG, Evonik - ELKO has been one of the teams I've admired, looked up to and would in some ways like to replicate. It's going to be interesting what choices you make in transfers
With two monument victories and Skujins winning the B WC Road Race I think it's safe to say your riders dominated the classics this year

Nemo - That first paragraph really sums up well what i think about that too. Couldnt write that any better myself. And that second part ... Guess i should watch out that my ideas / plans for transfers are not leaked soon with all the curiosity about it
redordead - Thanks mate. Love to hear words like that
