it's gotta be frustrating for Poland, to be destroyed by a couple of german forwards who are polish in everything but their passport.

Yes and they even speak Polish to eachother .. Klose and Podolski ..
It's weird but I understand why they've chosen to play for germany and not Poland .. |

Well if you had the quality and opportunity wouldn't you rather play for germany where you have a chance of winning EC and WC ?? or would you choose Poland where you can't win shit ? |

The Austrians did very well and didn't deserve to loe against Croatia really, but I like Croatia so I don't care about Austria really.
The Polish were just bad. The Brazilian that they brought on, Guerrero or however it was spelt, he was quite good. The Germans just outclassed them, though Metzelder and Metersacker looked a bit shaky.

Nice done from Germany, nothing more to say. They played quite well tonight. A great favorite goes towards the final round.

You must profoundly reckon that Poland used to be sucking before being at this level. Germany obviously overhanged them because of this team is favorite but in no case we cannot say that Poland played bad and, to the contrary, they definitely played well. |

Germany was the best team tonight.. No doubt there but Poland had some chances and played okay.. I don't think they'll go through to the Quarter finals because Croatia is too strong ..
But the Metzelder-Mertesacker didn't look like they were on top of their game during the match .. And neither did Lehmann ..

But as always I think that spain is gonna lose in the quarter final (If they go through to the quarter finals) and be a big dissapointment .. |

Poland's defence were all over the place. The first half they were shit, the 2nd half they weren't much better. I fail to see te point in the game that they played well for more than 5 minutes.
I agree they have a decent team, I stated earlier that I think they could come 2nd in the group, but tonight they definately didn't do well.

first law of Football: Spain will always be mentioned as favorites and will always fail to disappoint. It's right up there with law number 2 (the worse germany plays, the more chances they have of winning)

@Osmose: Not odd .. Just looking at the statistics
Spain ALWAYS dissapoints.. They aren't a tournament team like for example Germany .. Its something mentally with the spanish nationalteam..
If Portugal plays the rest of the matches like they did yesterday I can't see why they couldn't make the final .. Portugal aren't that bad |

Portugal cannot face France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain or Germany before the finals. Portugal have the best opportunity to get there.
EDIT: sorry, Portugal cannot face France, Italy, Holland or Spain before the finals, but they can face Germany. However, they still have the best opportunity to get there.

your calculations are a bit odd
we can face Germany in the quarters and any of the other teams in the semis

Yes my calculations are odd. That is because I mixed up Germany and Portugal.

Well if Portugal wins their group and germany wins their too .. Portugal will face either Croatia or Poland (as I see it) in the quarter final - they'll have a good chance of going to the semi and from that point of EVERYTHING can happen .. I think that both Germany and Portugal will win their groups.. |

yes they can...
Game 1: first in group A vs. 2nd in Group B
Game 2: 1st Gr. B vs. 2nd Gr. B
3: 1st C vs. 2nd D
4: 1st D vs. 2nd C
they'll be in 1 or 2. if they win, they'll play the winner of 3 or 4. so they can in the semis
the only time two teams can't face each other until the final (or 3rd place playoff) is the world cup, when the top 2 teams in the fifa ranking are seeded in groups A and G on purpouse to make that happen
