Finally Keizer with a Top20 GC result. Reducing his loss to ~2min and gaining time on direct opponents was needed after the first few mountain stages.
Bad luck for alexkr that Henao Montoya indeed is injured.
And with Phinney losing the jersey now, the situation has changed a lot. Madrazo still with a weak performance. And Tenorio indeed would have done better in shorter races like Colombia, Deutschland etc. |

Happy with the Spilak/Pluchkin alliance to gain time on the weaker 2 climbers in the battle. Obviously will need time on them later but for now we all have the same interests - a pity Madrazo wasnt in that group all along since he reduced the impact of that gap.
And of course, it is great to get a 2nd stage win. More stage wins will go a long way to make up for ultimately ending 1 or 2 GC spots lower than I might have liked.

Great report of the very tough mountain stage with famous summit of the Pyrenees. It looks like the best mountain trio in the race is clear, i am still surprised that Madrazo is not with them, even more with their mountain train...probably again lower (even slightly) acceleration stat making wonders.
Congrats SN, i think that Schleck should be moving to at least that 3rd spot behind Pluchkin and Spilak baring any disaster.

Another great report Roturn! It looks like Shikai kind of showed himself a little bit today, but he's still waaaaaay down in the U25, even though I think he could have done decently in it.
And big list of sprinters gone. Gonna be a lot of angry managers.

Dayum, that's a lot of riders gone with 10 stages remaining. Champs should be an interesting stage.

Today was a day about survival - there was little to be gained by joining breakaway. So I am delighted to still have a full compliment of riders - I hope it gives us a fair chance of making breakaways in later days, certainly there is less chance of breaks being caught now on the flat days.
Phinney drops the jersey but only just - even so there is still one more mountain stage in this section to come. Pluchkin really stepped it up there and along with Spilak they duffed Phinney up somewhat on the Tormalet. Schleck was more on the defensive this time but probably better tactics if he can raise his game tomorrow he can get back in yellow jersey hunt.
The withdrawels should come as no surprise to most of the managers who I think - there is only three flat stages left anyhow and I don't think they would necessarily expect to ride hard in any of them.
Thanks again for great pace of reporting roturn.

Mixed feelings here. In terms of securing a podium spot, this was a great result, but constantly being the worst rider in the sprint is really bad. The acceleration stat must be much much more important than the sprint stat, as Spilak is 67/74 and Schleck is 62/79. Pluchkin is the exact same as Spilak btw.
I would really fancy a win, but it seems he just doesn't have what it takes. And to gain a minute on Pluchkin will be almost impossible. To stay ahead of Schleck, and to gain more time on Phinney seems possible though, but to win the race - I don't think that's possible.

It could be a mix of sprinters and GC riders... If the GC is within 10-15 seconds, it could be VERY interesting.

Schleck bouncing back from his bad luck, nice. Looks like we will see a close GC-fight between those three or four, who appear to be the strongest. Madrazo though is still someone, who may well fight back on a very strong day, so don't count him off yet.
Did not expect so many riders to DNF already at this point of the race. Of course, those sprinters never had a realistic chance to go for that remaining flat stages anyway. Imo

Good news, König still riding a nice race and a few sprinters out of the race, hopefully Howard can only profit from that. Hopefully Kratochvila will go on an attack in another stage in this race too, the possibility he could win that KOM jersey is quite huge, if he goes. And the fight for the win is really interesting and exciting as well, it is still a really open race between 4 riders. Only too bad Henao seems to be injured...

It sucks for alex, that Henao has pretty much showed he's injury will prevent him to reach a nice place in the GC. Feel for you man.
Schleck seems to be in a bipolar relation with this Tour. Either he wins a stage or he compromises his chances. It's getting pretty interesting.
Another great stage roturn, keep it up

So, after what happened last year, Pluschkin reaches the yellow jersey now. Let's see if he doesn't have the same bad luck as last year.
Sad for Henao, while Schleck seems to suffer from some kind of disorder. Way too unconsistent.
Great report too Roturn, thanks. |

Thanks again for the support guys.
Hopefully Henao can recover to at least try to get a stage win.

Some teams really with lots of riders gone. Bpost, Pokerstars and Rothaus to mention from my mind.
Also Good Energy without a leadout now. Makes it two recent trains less and chances for 1-2 other teams. |

Exciting stage, congrats SN. I would have liked to see Amador up with the top guys, but I guess he set my expectations too high with his showing in the first week.

Half of my team already out of race. While it was expected in case of Boonen, de Vocht and Ingels, I feel quite disappointed to find Dzamastagic amongst them. He could be great fighter in flatter stages if he survives.
Anyway, another great battle between GC contenders, I'm glad to see Pluchkin in yellow jersey!
