A relief to see Pluchkin contain Cunego in that hilly stage! No more of them remaining only mountains and a ITT. 1'33 is still a lot to turn around but I'm hoping Pluchkin can do it!

I hope the nationality and jersey bonus might kick in for Cunego and might be enough to clinch the Giro..

Cannot complain about that stage, logical that Jose would struggle a bit on that punchy last climb. Sorta pleased he stated within himself, just hope he has something for the coming mountains.
Reward for roturn, Gomez marchante is still rubbish but so rubbish he was given leeway, surprised he beat popo there but good for him beer fuelled win.

I feel bad for Pendleton's and Prio, this is not a way how I would want to get Rujano into the top 10. But still a really impressive ride from Jose, he did way better than I hoped for a stage like this and with his current form he showed in last few stages, it looks quite good for him to keep his newly gained top 10 position right through the finish of the race. I really hope he can keep himself out of the trouble.

Sympathies to Martin and Fothen going down, don't want Denifl passing them like that.

That was close from Popo, would be cool to see the old man snatching his first GT win so late in his career.
But 2nd is great too and i am happy for Rothaus, that is being haunted by bad luck and i know how it is like. Congrats Roturn.
Nice to see Metinvest riders being agressive for a change and we are rewarded with top20 in GC for now. Holding it should be possible.
Thanks for the great reporting SN! (and little bit of insight into MG history).

Ricco did well. I would have liked to get some more time out of Alarcon, but I guess I have to accept that 6th place is more likely than 5th at this point.
To overtake Trofimov would be amazing, but he would need to have an off day for Ricco to get enough time to stay ahead after the TT.

Bad, really bad Giro for me. According to SN's table, it is obvious Pokerstars will achieve the second worst result in Giro in MG history. My very last hope is stage 19, but if peleton can't catch 4-men break in pan flat stage, I don' t believe there will be any difference in tougher one.

Worst moment of the race there in Stage 18. Really hated seeing Ricco just abandon like that, especially so late in the race.

As enjoyable as Rothaus and Lotto success in this stage might be on any other day, oh my fucking god that hurts me to see and I wish I could unsee it.

I must change my mind and declare this Giro as best Giro ever for me! And not because it`s the first ever.
It took until the 3rd week to get anything positive but now this is awesome!
Smowz, never again make fun of Gomez Marchante.
Regarding Festina, this is just absolutely horrible. Really feel with you here, you had got lots of GT issues the least seasons and yet again you are hit the strongest. Sorry to see your ambitions fly away here. |

I'm starting to get jealous on how this Giro turned out in the end for Rothaus
And what a terrible luck for Festina. It seems that some teams just can't put the bad luck behind them.

Oy, to bad about Ricco, really unlucky for Festina (maybe it's the name that always make you unlucky?)
Sella at 6th now, a nice result. I believe he should be able to keep it in the ITT

Ouch Ricco... That was a shocker, the tifosi will be happy and once again alarcon and sella are brothers in arms. But Ricco is just horrible luck, he wasn't having a great race but would have been on for at least a top ten possibly a top five.
Am shocked to see Jose again take time out of madrazo, is a podium possible?
Gomez marchante? What is this Shyte

Tough couple of stages. First Fothen and Martin fall, then Ricco. It's always a shame, especially for SotD, but that's just how the game works, and if you come to think about it, it's actually pretty realistic.
It's always unfortunate though. But look at Rothaus: they were on the verge of entering the Giro's "hall of shame", but in a matter of 2 stages have pulled one of the most miraculous stunts I've witnessed in this game. And they only have 3(?) riders in competition.
So cheer up SotD, perhaps there's a turn around waiting for you later in the season
Congrats roturn, I feel the game was owing you this. And thanks for the fair play you guys

A bad stage for us, especially as Impey couldn't keep up longer. It would have been great to see him make it to stage 19 and one final chance at glory. Congrats to Rothaus and roturn on another stage win, and adding the California performance from Keizer, this is suddenly a very good month for them.
Truly unlucky SotD, Ricco was looking good for some much needed ranking points in Festina's hunt for the overall podium.
And thanks for another report, SN! |
