My three favorite riders on the podium, my 2 absolute favorite on 1 and 2. Couldn't be better.
Van Der Poel breaks the record of youngest WC ever. Van Aert will break the record of most World Championships ever, so it's all good
Van Aert could yeah, but maybe he has the same 'championships' syndrom that Nys always had
Van Aert might challenge Nys in most career cross wins though
Could, yeah, that's what I meant of course
Though I think Van Aert rode a fantastic cross. Despite the bad luck he kept it together. I have a feeling he'll be better in Championships than Nys.
Breaking Nys' career wins will be hard, but seeing he's only 20 and already won over 10 races this season, he's well on his way |

Dropped chains and crashes are part of this sport. Nobody makes a fuss of it like in road racing. Once again, the winner was the one was made the least amount of mistakes. Van der Poel, youngest WC ever.
Van der Haar was the best 'Elite' rider, since MvdP and Van Aert are still u23 riders. And he was the only one able to keep up with the two prodigies.

F yeah VDP
Amazing comeback by Van Aert though.
I had a great weekend in Tabor. Though it was quite cold at times, the races made up for it. Some great action right in front of our eyes and I left Tabor with the feeling of having seen the race. That said, I'll definitely have to watch Men's and Women's Elite race in the coming days. It's more fun when you try to engage the race, by running around a bit and cheering of course, but also usually coming back to one of the screens to actually know what's going on.
Hanging out with Avin was a blast. Great czech beer too, very nice atmosphere, although it could have been louder at times. The start was too quiet for my taste so I just banged on the billboards like crazy. Some nice action in front of us actually, like crashes and even Van der Haar starting his move on Pauwels right in front of our eyes! Except that, I cheered lots for VDP and many other riders. The first lap of the men's race was probably the best, where - with some running against the parcour - we managed to watch the field three times pass us in the first lap. The training rides were also pretty cool to watch. (Fun fact, VDP was actually the only rider who really went fast past us in one of his training rides - did he want to impress us? Yes, of course! )
I only caught the last laps of the Junior races due to the train a bit late. Same goes for U23, although we got to see some nice action still. Women race was incredible actually, unique atmosphere with the snow and an intense race. Sanne Cant's pissed off look on the podium still haunts me.

Yeah, it was real fun to hang out with Avin. Great guy!
Oh, I forgot to mention the finale. In the final lap, we were on our way to the podium because we didn't expect too much to happen in our place anymore. So we left and stood in the final descent, waiting for the riders a last time. Funnily enough, I read later that VDP knew in that exact descent that he got gold. I also shouted it to him, but nevermind hehe. It's very cool to look back and think that you've experienced such a defining moment of one of your favourite riders first-hand, live and being really right there.
Another eally great moment came shortly later, when we were running alongside Van der Haar & Van Aert, who was closing in on the dutch and making ready to overtake him in that descent, great action. I kept running and when I was close at the podium, I just saw the entrance of VDP on the finish line on the screen. Dunno, kinda felt really great and it all came together very nice in the last lap hehe.

Thank you very much Shonak for your nice words, i can only say the same things about you and your buddy. It was really a super-fun weekend on the course and in the pub and i was happy to be your "host" and happy to share some love for live cyclocross.
I am short on time now, so i will most likely upload rest of the few photos i made on Sunday tommorow with some comments. But here is the special one for Shonak where he cheers for his favourite Mathieeeeeeeu the killer van der Poel in his training lap.

Mathieu van der Poel is looking very good again today. 22 seconds in front of Van der Haar and Van Aert. |

His "late" season peak is really impressive. Taking win after win. Surely he'll need some rest when the CX season is over but I imagine he could even snatch one, two wins on the road in this physical condition despite full competition riding for couple of months now.
Great look of the world champion jersey. I appreciate it that he stick to black shorts. Looks better than having it all in white.
Gratz to Van Aert for winning BPost overall (At least I can't imagine anything happening in the last round that takes victory from him )

That sprint.
After the horrible World Championships in Tabor, Nys snatches a podium spot today. Hardly a consolation prize for the season for him but I guess it'll help him to close the season and put it behind him. Maybe there's even a win now possible in the last races?

The nice thing about MvdP that even with the Superprestige classification tomorrow which he can still win, he goes full out in a Bpost cross where he has nothing to gain (except hte days win).
Hope the youthly enthousiasm doesn't cost him his SP classification tomorrow. But, in this form not much seems to be able to stop him |

Yes, he has the mentality of a champion. Racing every damn race to win, and enjoying himself doing it. He's sorta the anti-thesis to dutch road cycling, jk.
I don't see either of them succeedings the Superprestige classification with VDP in this world champion form. Maybe they held back a bit but VDP has won almost every race lately. In two races, he should do just fine. Will be still a close battle point-wise though.

Would be great to see VdP take Superprestige, especially with Van Aert taking the Bpost Bank Trofee
Too bad Pauwels took the World Cup instead of Van der Haar, then |

MvdP on his way to win another race. He has won every race yet in 2015.

VDP extended his contract with BKCP - Powerplus till 2018. So he'll be definitely around for the next three years in Cyclo-Cross. I think the contract before was running until 2017 but I imagine after this breakthrough-season his salary got massively increased.

I guess he'll have won anything there is to win in 3 years, so I hope he'll consider a road career.

I wouldn't overestimate him, one month before the worlds we were all saying how unbeatable Van Aert was. I think those will have a nice rivalry over the years, I can't really see one of them completely dominating.
Then again, we're jumping to conclusions after their first season. They first need to confirm next season. What if Nys gets over his divorce and returns to top shape (even though he's getting older and older). What if Van der Haer gets his big breakthrough? You can't write off Pauwels yet either.
Oh, and what if Stybar, Boom or Albert return somehow? One can only dream
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Yes, I don't think that neither Van Aert nor VDP will outright dominate the sport, but between the two of them they will claim most races they participate in. They already did this season.
Vanthourenhout, Sweeck and some other promising U23 & Junior riders are the ones I look forward to in the coming years to add some further spice to the races. The old guard got schooled most of the time. Surely many of those guys can claim a win now and then, but not more than that. Sven Nys might return to winning ways for a season or two, dunno. It's hard to come back at such an age.
