Either tonight or tomorrow. It's not supposed to go in a fast pace, so it's quite understandable.

Even though it took quite some time for guys to transfer from North America to Europe, they're finally ready for 2nd challenge of Pre-Season part of season. However, we're now in October and it even started snowing in some part of Italy. Luckily, Val di Fiemme and it's Predazzo 106HS hill were the parts that got "hit" by snow last night and for the first time in season, we'll be able to see guys in action on snow!
The hill was used in Torino 2006 Olympic Games as Normal hill, when Thomas Morgernstern won both competition. It's a great way to revive the hill again in PCMdaily DSJ World! Here are some basic infos about the hill:
K point | 95 meters | Hill size | 106 meters | Landing angle | 34.99° degrees | Average speed | 85-86 km/h |
For the first time in this season, the best normal-hill specialists are going to shine and show themselves here. We, however, separated only few guys that should fight for few top spots here, so here they are - favourites for VdF 106 HS pre-season competition:
Favourites | | | | B.E. Bouborn | H.-K.-J. P.-Otze | J. Nikkel | T. Terpstra | S. Kursanka | L. Brandstätter | | | | Outsiders | | | | A. Mujagic | J. Harden | J. Johannson | T. Woods | I. Suparman | U. Zhukov |
The fun (qualifications) were closer and closer to begin and that point once again and as nothing interesting happened in the meantime, we're going to skip to qualifications. Prepare yourselves!
Once again the qualifications, something that doesn't even bring any points this season in a competition that doesn't even count. But well, that's the procedure and it's pre-season, so the guys are preparing for upcoming hills and the results aren't really important.
Anyways, after only few test-young jumpers - qualifications started. Just on start, as a guy with #2 Bib, J. Nikkel had a great jump. L. Brandstatter, J. Harden, H. K. J. P. Otze & S. Kursanka were also the guys who started in first 10 jumpers and scored some big points. Still, no one could beat dutch jumper, even tho the best normal-hill specialist already jumped. This already looked unpredictable at that point.
No many falls today, only 2 with S. Innauer & I. Suparman being the guys that first felt the taste of snow in this season. It doesn't look good for Austrian jumper so far, as it's his 2nd fall already. Talents didn't surprise, either with U. Zhukov & PJ Levre being 2 biggest disappointments today, when talking about U21 guys.
B.E. Bouborn showed some class today and after having one fall and finishing 15th in last competition - he jumped a new hill record (105.5m) which was not less than 2 meters better than any other jump that night. M. Martinez, A. Mujagic, T. Woods & J. Johannson all had some pretty solid results, considering their chances before. However, no one could beat Canadian, who clearly became one of the main win contenders here.
Rest of the guys were here just to try out the new snow & new GoPro helmet cameras. It's one great feature definitely, that is surely going to bring in alot of excitement in future competitions. PCMdaily DSJ World is following the technology trends!
The quiet, late-night qualification round finished after all 24 jumpers finished their rounds. It wasn't impressively interesting competition, but just a preview of what could happen in a real competition, tomorrow night.

Again a great qualification jump of Brandstätter. Too bad they don't matter this year..
Also Too bad my fellow country man and team mate Innauer fall again which is just bad. I hope gets more concentrated as soon as the real season starts.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

I need flying hills
Hoping Suparman can stay on his feet and then everything will be alright, given that he's not bad on normal hills.

you built a great team by the way: a flying hill specialist, a large hill specialist, a normal hill specialist and a talent. and correct me if I'm wrong but the team results are the four guys result put together

Great qualification from Martinez who is not normally good on normal hills. Hopefully he gets a good result in the actual thing.

Teams are going to be fun, guys. I thought about way smaller calendar at the start, but as I noticed that you guys really pays attention to the teams that much, I just made much bigger team calendar. That breaks my promise that this will be fast & season will be finished in around a month, but it's going to be more fun. Val di Fiemme competition report coming today!
And yes Luki, not just Poles plays this game! Of course, they're absolutely dominating this game in terms of player amount, but there are alot of players from all around the world. There are also guys that likes DSJ4 & this kind of games/stories and we have 24 of them here. Would be nice if you follow this and maybe join us in next season!

Todays competition is one of special ones, as it's the first competition in season which has snow, it's first night competition and it's 2nd Pre-Season competititon which means that there's nothing less but one hill to go before real season starts! It's also first real test for normal-hill jumpers, so it's definitely going to be interesting.
Wind | -0.6 m/s | Time | 18:00 CET | Snowiness | 25% | Cloudiness | 20% | Precipitation | 11.5% | Turbidity | 4.5 |
Guess what?! No falls today, for the first time in the season. All guys managed to stay on skies somehow and not to fall. Seems like everyone likes snow much better than plastic, igelit cover.
First round went pretty well, with 9 guys jumping over 100 meters and H. K. J. P. Otze setting absolutely new hill record with huge jump of 105.5m. Distance-wise, B. E. Bouborn & T. Terpstra were 2 closest to him with both of them jumping 103m. Admir Mujagic & M. Oget were two biggest surprises in Top 10, as they both managed to get 102ish jumps. S. Kursanka, J. Johannson, J. Harden all did pretty well too, as all them managed to finish in Top 10 with Finnish rider being the best out of them (4th).
No big surprises today either, which proves me wrong as I said that it's quite random. However, besides Suriname's & French jumpers, A. Beckemann & J. Zoltan are by far the biggest surprises here, as they both managed to get some great results with only 600 in normal-hill stat. On another side, J. Nikkel is probably the only one who underperformed today, with only 10th place for 2nd, on-paper best normal-hill specialist.
Talents were the ones who underperformed today too. Literally, every talent did bad today (except the ones we named above), including: R. Kruspe, PJ Levre, A. Wargunnson, S. Innauer, M. Martinez and finally U. Zhukov who seemed to be the best out of this group. All in all, pretty bad day for youngsters. , Guys such as F. Falcon who finished last, N. Kavlac, J. Smirnov, T. Woods could be in guys who failed a bit, but they're not even talents, which makes it even worse for them!
Rest of the guys did fairly well, without any big surprises. M. Santic, L. Brandstatter, I. Suparman are in this group. Pretty small group of those who did what was expected from them, you have to agree!
At the end of competition, with 2 great jumps (105, 105.5) and with absolutely huge margin in this type of hills, H. K. J. P. Otze managed to get a win in front of A. Mujagic who takes his 2nd podium and shows that he's most successful jumper so far. T. Terpstra finished on 3rd position, just a half of point in front of his Finnish mate, S. Kursanka.
