here's a bombshell:
Alonso in talks with Ferrari to be Raikkonen's teammate. Massa in talks with Toyota.

McLaren will not appeal against the spy scandal sanctions imposed by the World Motor Sport Council eight days ago.
McLaren were fined £49.2m and stripped of their Formula One constructors' points following a hearing in Paris.
"We believe the time has come to put this huge distraction behind us," said McLaren team boss Ron Dennis.
Dennis now wants to focus on winning this year's drivers' title, with Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso separated by two points with three races left.
"McLaren wants to win races and world championships," he added.
"We are fortunate to have, and continue to receive, unwavering support from our employees, sponsor partners and Formula 1 fans across the world."
Friday was the deadline for any appeal to be submitted to motorsport's governing body, FIA.
The 'spygate' case broke in July when a 780-page technical dossier on Ferrari cars was found at the home of McLaren's chief designer, Mike Coughlan.
He was suspended while Ferrari mechanic Nigel Stepney, who allegedly supplied the documents, was sacked.
But due to insufficient evidence McLaren avoided any penalty on that occasion, much to the fury of bitter rivals Ferrari.
However, new evidence later surfaced concerning an e-mail exchange between Alonso and test driver Pedro de la Rosa.
Italian Police also discovered 35 telephone calls passed between Coughlan and Stepney between March 11 and July 3, along with 288 text messages in the same period.
"To our regret and embarrassment, the content of the previously unknown e-mails demonstrated possession not being limited to a single person, albeit unsanctioned in any way by the team," said a McLaren statement.
McLaren acknowledged that it had possession of confidential documents but insisted the information was not used to gain advantage on its cars.
"Moving forwards, and in consultation with our shareholders, we will now review and further strengthen our internal compliance structures and processes," McLaren added.
FIA said it did not penalise Hamilton and Alonso because they provided evidence in exchange for immunity.
However, the criminal case against Stepney in Italy and the civil case against Coughlan in England remain ongoing.

that news has it slightly wrong. it's De La Rosa, not Hamilton. Hamilton has nothing to do with the case

Weird and crazy race today, yet still good driving by Hamilton. He seems almost sure of winning the championship.

I haven't seen the race yet (and if anyone tells me the results I will be mightily pissed). but I'm looking forward to it. with a straight this long coming out of a corner which isn't aero-dominant, there should be a bucketload of overtaking.
also, in case of rain (which at Fuji is a certainty no matter what time of the year) anything can happen. even a Spyker winning
I'm itching to see it, basically...and I'm avoiding looking at the rest of the posts on this thread before I do

well, I've seen it...
I never thought I'd say this, but: the rain ruined the race
without rain, at THIS track, it could've been a great race.
Massa had gigantic bad luck, nothing new there. he was also the fastest man on track. again, nothing new there.
Ferrari screwed things up, which for some reason is becoming normal.
amusing the Vettel and Webber situation. they gambled on a wet weather setup, hoping it would rain. it did, so they were doing brilliantly thanks to that good luck....then Vettel slams into Webber and they're both out. they could've had two brilliant placings.
Webber live on public access TV: "Kids. they lack the experience, you put them out there to do a job and they fuck it up"
well, Hamilton's about to be champion and I'm about to collect a huge amount, having been the only guy from class who bet on him pre-season

The silly season isn't just silly this year...it's insane...
Rally legend Carlos Sainz weighs in on the Alonso situation at McLaren
"I went through the same when I was teammate to Colin McRae.
It's the same everywhere there's an english driver
The pressure from the English press was tremendous," Sainz told the Spanish newspaper Diario As. "What they said and what they did.
"Each event, each section, each test, they tried and tried to make their driver seem like the better one. It is an unbearable situation to be in."
"Fernando knows better than anyone what is going on, but from where I stand, staying at McLaren for him is practically impossible. "
basically McLaren would be idiots not to try and sign Rosberg who is 20 years old and will be a huge star. convincing Rosberg to go there, however, will prove pretty difficult.

Going to be interesting who they sign.
And what about Fernando? He'll probably go to Renault, right? |

word around the paddock is Ferrari. Todt says no chance, but Todt doesn't seem likely to be around much longer
that would mean they would get rid of their fastest driver, Massa. which would be extremely stupid if they're going to replace a consummate professional with a disruptive influence such as Alonso. but I'd like to see it, just to finally see "Raikkonen vs. Alonso - which of the two is most overrated?"
the other option is Renault. that would mean dumping either Fisichella or Kovalainen. Fisichella would be the choice, but he has a contract, and Kovalainen could go to Toyota.
it's a merry-go-round, really, and it all hinges on McLaren. they won't let go of Alonso for free, obviously, so the more likely option is him sitting out a year.
