The Porec Trophy (category 2) has started with Robert Koren of super-favorites Perutnina Ptuj winning the prologue.
Meanwhile in Portugal, The Volta ao Distrito de Santarém (category 1) has also started with Manuel Cardoso winning the bunch sprint for stage one. Don't know who came second, but some quality sprinters are there like Hunter, Forster, Benitez, Clerc, Casper, Renshaw, Furlan, Vaitkus, as 3 of the 4 stages are flat.
The overall should be won by whoever wins the stage 3 ITT. Major favorites are Andreas Kloden, Laszló Bodrogi and Ruben Plaza

Today is the Copperopolis Road Race here in California and Thanks to work I will not be racing in it. It has a failry storied past with julian Dean winning in 1998, Levi took second in 1999, in 2003 it was Jackson Stewart, Filip Meirhaeghe in 04, in 05 a local won ahead of Dave Zabriskie, Eric Wohlberg and Bernard Van Ulden with Taylor Tolleson in the top 10, and in 06 it was Levi ahead of Ben Jauques-Maynes, with 2007 winner also being Levi, this time ahead of B JM bro Andy. Who will win this year? Well Mike Sayers, Jackson Stewart, Nathan Miller, David Galvin, Johnathan Garcia, Scotty! Nydam are signed up from BMC. Cal Berry Giant has 12 guys incluing last years second place rider Andy Jaques-Maynes and former BMC-er Ken Hanson. Chris Jones of Type One is there as well as Canadian Andrew Randel for Symetrics. Kevin Klein of Rock Racing is there as the seemingly only Rock riders signed up according to the sign up list. Some Outsiders might include Taylor Kuphaldt from Davis Bike Club who broke away with one teamte at the Land Park Criterium Juniors race and gave his teamate the win. Kuphaldt can compete with the Pros. For example at Snelling RR he took second behind eric Wohlberg and ahead of Daniel holloway of VMG-Felt and Ken Hanson even though he is still a junior.
Referred to as the Paris-Roubaix of California (for its crappy roads) Copperopolis seems like it has its best ever field this year. Should be interesting... to bad I can't be there.

That's awful. no, really, it is. When the sentence you most hear during the day is "I didn't ask for anchovies!!"

It is always a good day when you avoid sticking your fingers into the Anchovy bin. And of course there is always that one wierdo, when you are only minutes from closing, who wants a those damn fish. Good thing I am not the new guy cause I usually tell him to get them

Pretty Much a two horse race. Riders from Rock Racing, Type 1, and Symetrics either DNF'ed or DNS'ed. 36 finished the race just to give you an idea of how bad the roads were. I had 1 teamate finish 5th in the cat 3's but the other flatted and DNF'ed.

Dwaars Door Vlaanderen is on right now. They'll begin the broadcast at 14:20 GMT+1 at Cycling.tv, if it works this time that is.
I'm thinking Cancellara and hopefully Breschel
