It was quite expected, but Landis has appealed his suspension to CAS.
UCI has still not decided whether or not to start a case against M. Rasmussen (I said that a few days ago). Funny thing is, though, that if they decide to do it, it's the Monegasque Cycling Federation which will have to handle the case because that's where his license is
They say that they are ready to take care of the case. (Of course they have. It's not like there are many Monegasque riders being caught for doping )
20 Pro Continental teams have applied for a Pro Tour license. These are the teams:
Elk Haus-Simplon (Austria)
Team Volksbank (Austria)
Landbouwkrediet-Tönissteiner (Belgium)
Topsport Vlaanderen (Belgium)
PSK Whirlpool-Author (Czech Republic)
Andalucia-Cajasur (Spain)
Karpin Galicia (Spain)
Mitsubishi-Jartazi (Estonia)
Agritubel (France)
Barloworld (Great Britain)
Ceramica Flaminia Bossini Docce (Ireland)
Group Navigare (Ireland)
Acqua Sapone-Caffe Mokambo (Italy)
NGC Medical-OTC Industria Porte (Italy)
Tinkoff Credit Systems (Italy)
Skil-Shimano (Netherlands)
Benfica (Portugal)
BMC Racing Team (USA)
Slipstream Chipotle presented by H30 (USA)
Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli (Venezuela) |

only those would be capable of PT level I think... with agritubel and aqua e sapone as just just.... as you see who slipstream have signed them should have a good chance. |

Slipstream will get it, I think. They have a very solid economy, they have lots of great PT-capable riders and they have a strong anti-doping policy (unlike Tinkoff which would also have been a good guess) |

who do Agritubel have? Moreau and Feillu. no one else. I can name about 5 other teams that aren't there who have a better squad.
Slipstream is about 99% sure to get it.

Conspicuous by their absence: LPR. I understand the ProTour won't hold much sway in 2008 for virtually all of the major races, but it must still have the likes of Savoldelli and Di Luca a little worried. |

uhh...not really. they applied for a "season wild-card". only teams that have those will be allowed to apply for wild cards for the individual ProTour Races

LPR will have one big event coming next season, and that's the Giro 'd Italia. I don't think they could care less about being the Pro Tour, especially not now when Giro 'd Italia is not a part of it.
(And welcome to the site, turismo! )

I was a little unsure what it meant, so thanks for the correction.

Leukemans has now said that he has a natural high level of testosterone in his body. He also tested positive in 2001 and in 2006 due to the problem, but both times he was let go after further testing. He expects the same to happen this time.
ASO has announced that Le Tour will start in Monaco in 2009
35-year old Moreni has received a 2 year suspension after his positive test during the Tour de France. That probably also means the end of the career for Moreni. |

Is Mercado staying at Agritubel? I think Barloworld should get a PT licence, they have the best riders imo.

Czech republic will again have a Pro Continental team (with Wild-Card status) with these riders: René Andrle, Radek Becka, Petr BencÃk, Tomas Buchácek, Petr Cermák, Jakub DanacÃk, Vojtech Dlouhý, Petr Kaltofen (all CZE), Patrick Keller (GER), Frantisek Kloucek, Stanislav Kozubek, Leopold König, Petr Kubias, Martin Mares (all CZE), André Schulze (GER), Michal Skvarka (SVK).
I hope in their good season and I also hope they will move up Czech republic nation ranking to at least 17th place |

Cancellara could do it easy. Talor Phinney said that he too would like to go to the Olympics n the track. It is totally possibe because Phinney won the first track ever rode in which happened to be the national elite mens pursuit....

Not that I trust Agritubel at all about ethic (no team doping, but they're closing their eyes on it, most likely), but Barloworld are even worst...
Mercado is leaving Agritubel. |
