After my exams I will be taking this story up again, here's the first new update!
---
Milano – Sanremo:
Raceprofile:
Our Team:
Racereport:
This crazy long race is very, very tough. Imagine how tough it is to be in the BOTD for over 200km! In the relative relaxed peloton it’s a lot easier than in the BOTD. But nevertheless, four bravehearts created a BOTD:
A. Pérez
B. Mollema
J. Debusschere
D. Malacarne
Here are the four riding together.
It was a pretty boring race to be honest. Untill the last climb nothing happened. By the time the BOTD was caught, with Bauke Mollema being the last one to get caught. He rode very well today, I think he’s building form for the upcoming classics.
A lot of guys tried to break away on the last mountain of the day, and our sprinters were desperately trying to hang on. But as we know, Bos is a very weak climber. We tried to attack with Vanmarcke , our golden boy so far in this season. But he couldn’t get away and due to all the attacks the peloton stayed together.
It was going to be a sprint, but the big question is, who’s going to win it?
The sprinters all seem to be out of energy and Boom attacks about 3kms till the finish, will he make it? It would be a great success for the team! Cancellara is following him, they are both looking strong, and the sprinters with Goss in the lead are right behind them! It will be extremely tight!
As you can see, Boom takes the win! What a great win for the Rabobankrider. Cancellara takes 2nd place, and Goss takes third place today! The riders of our team disappointed greatly today. Best is a 53th place with Vanmarcke . We still have a long way to go!

Don't know if anybody cares, but I'm going to continue it. Finished Catalunya today, and some cobbled classics aswell. New update will be tomorrow!

Vuelta Cyclista Catalunya:
Stageprofile:
Our team:
Gesink, Sanchez, Seeldraayers, Velits (to build form), Goos, Levarlet, Capecchi and youngster Kelderman will participate for us in this race.
Preview: “we are sending out a very strong squad here. Peter Velits is mainly here to build up his fitness, and thus Robert Gesink is our main man here. He’ll be assisted by L.L Sanchez and Capecchi . Those two are also free riders, so they can attack when they have good legs. Seeldraayers, Goos and Levarlet are mainly here to help and maybe sneak with a BOTD some stage. We are looking forward to this after the disappointment of Milano-Sanremo.”
The BOTD:
The BOTD contains 4 riders:
A. Kvachuk
A. Lund
J.L. Roldan
M. Pinotti
Here we have a better picture of the riders:
We didn’t feel like chasing the group down, as we don’t think we are the biggest favorite here. We’ll just wait for our chance to come along.
Since it is the first stage of this Vuelta Cyclista Catalunya , the botd won’t make it. The peloton with the big names in it wants to win the stage! After the huge climb of the 1st category the group gets caught in the downhill section. Our team still doesn’t do anything and everyone is still there. Goos is doing great work for us, he supplies our leaders with drinks the whole stage!
When the last categorized mountain is in sight we can feel there is something in it for us today! We still have Capecchi, Gesink and Sanchez up front.
At the climb there are lots of attacks, but we decided to wait and not burn up our energy.
Knowing that Luis Leon Sanchez is a great downhill rider we decide to go for it and make a double breakaway with Sanchez and Gesink ! Sanchez will try to ride till he’s completely empty, giving Gesink a chance for the win and a good start for the GC!
The peloton doesn’t react immediately; they don’t really know what to do! We might have a chance today! Luis Leon gives everything he has today! Gesink thanks his friend and goes for it! He has a lead of about 1 minute with just a couple of kilometers to go!
With one last push he is able to fend off the chasing peloton and he wins the 1st stage of this year’s Vuelta Cyclista Catalunya! What a huge surprise and a great success for VVV-Venlo Pro Cycling . He wins with a margin of 40 seconds, which is not good enough to win the GC yet, but it’s a great start!
Sanchez finishes in a 17th place aswell, he surely was the guy who made the win happen today! Kelderman and Goos lose some time today, but we don't care about that too much, as we don't see them as contenders for any jersey.
Comment from Honda: “Wow, this is just a great start! Just as in Paris-Nice we start with a victory! I am extremely happy and we will most definitely celebrate this result! We don’t expect anything for the GC-win yet, but who knows!?”

I really appreciate all your support guys, I'm motivated to continue again!
----
Vuelta Ciclista Catalunya:
Stageprofile:
Looking at the profile, our first priority is definitely keeping the white jersey for Gesink . We won’t attack and blow our riders up on the last mountain of the day; we’ll try and make it a group sprint. It will be tough, because we know for sure that a lot of riders are going to attack!
Our Startlist:
Our intentions are clear today; we want to keep the white jersey. We want to dictate the stage today, so we let a BOTD go and try and control them as much as we can.
The names are not really dangerous for the GC. These are the names:
J. Horrach
J. Hoogerland
D. De la Fuente
R. Majka
D. Teklehaimanot
J. Rosendo
M. Golas
D. Lelay
As you can see, we are roulating with two riders up top at the peloton. We are dictating the tempo, and controlling the breakaway. Our riders are doing a great job so far!
Nothing really happens at the beginning of the race, but when we reach the last climb all hell breaks loose. We expected this to happen, so we put Capecchi, Gesink and Sanchez at the front of the peloton. Countless attacks were placed, but nobody really managed to get away! The BOTD got caught really fast during these attacks!
We manage to keep it close, and everything merges when we go into the descend. It’s all about the right placement now! Gesink is trying to keep himself in front of the group; Levarlet and Capecchi are really close aswell!
When the sprint started it was just an extreme fight. The real sprinters didn’t make it over the 1st categorized mountain, and a lot of riders had their energy drained due to their attacks.
Gesink starts the sprint very well! It looks like he’s going to win it! Capecchi and Levarlet are contenders for a top 5 classification aswell! Gesink might have started to sprint a little early, as he gets passed by some guys, looks like it’s over for him!
Levarlet is not cutting it aswell, he has lost some energy trying to keep Gesink in front of the group. Capecchi is a few places back, but he is gaining a lot of speed! Can he get a consecutive win for us?? The pressure from Barredo and Riblon is huge though!
Yes he can! He comes up out of the blue! Nobody saw him coming! What a surprise again! The second stage win in a row for VVV-Venlo Pro Cycling !
Gesink in a short statement:
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Eros coming! I saw him a couple places back before, so I thought it’s impossible for him to win today, when everyone started losing power, he came along and crushed everyone! Fantastic win, he’s such a talented rider!”
Comment from Honda:
“Unbelievable! Our goal was to keep the jersey, but with three top 10 places and the stage win, this exceeded our expectations by far! Levarlet managed to pass Gesink , who was fading at the end, so he got 6th place and Gesink 8th. So we didn’t lose any time to the others and survived another day! Tomorrow will be the most important stage though, we are looking forward to it, we are very confident!”

Vuelta Ciclista Catalunya:
Stageprofile:
Our Startlist:
Preview + Tactic:
Today we are ofcourse looking to keep the white jersey. We will try and control the race, and we won’t let a group with potential GC-winners ride away. We feel this stage is deciding for who wins the GC this year!
Race report:
As expected, a quite big group rides away. They are all not too dangerous for us, so we let them go. Names in the group:
G. Brambilla
S. Clement
M. Carrara
M. Garcia
M. Rabottini
E. Petrov
D. Zabriskie
C. Lemoine
We are not really participating in the chase, as we feel the teams with the big favorites, Nibali and Wiggins , should do some work. However, they are mainly here to build their fitness.
Two riders attack out of the peloton during the climb, I don’t know their names, I’m sorry I forgot. It’s a Quick-Step and a Liquigas rider.
They are not really dangerous, so we let them go. In the descend of the biggest climb of the day we let Capecchi attack, just to make the other teams work in the chase. He goes together with L.L Sanchez, but they won't make it very far, as the peloton decides to fly off the mountain.
But during the last climb of the day everything comes back together. Time for Gesink to attack now! He feels pretty good, so I just told him to go and attack! Just see who is able to follow you!
Only three riders can follow him! Andreas Klöden, Daniel Moreno and Nicolas Roche . These three will prove to be the biggest contenders for the GC-win.
Gesink has to settle for a sprint. He’s not feeling too well, and due to a bad timing he can’t win the sprint!
It’s a shame, because it could have been our 3rd consecutive win!
But Klöden is the best today! Moreno finishes in 2nd place, and Roche in 3rd. Gesink is at 4th place, but he does not lose time to his rivals! He even wins some time on riders like Vinokourov and Rui Costa !
Comment from Honda:
“we are very satisfied, our goal was to keep Robert in the white jersey, and we did it! We even increased the lead on some of our rivals! Too bad we didn’t win today, because it was definitely possible! I also want to thank the rest of the team for keeping Robert in a great position and supplying him with water bottles all the time. This is all a team effort! It’s time to look forward now, we are heading towards a possible GC-win, it’s still a long way to go though!”

Dwars door Vlaanderen:
Raceprofile:
Our Startlist:
Preview:
This race is just a warming up for Vanmarcke, as he is not in the form that he needs for the bigger classics. We are hoping for a top 5 spot, atleast a top 10 spot. We will also try to get someone in the breakaway, to get some training. Hopefully Sander Bos, our young talent!
Report:
During the Vuelta Catalunya we also had to ride some classics, today the team is racing in Vlaanderen. It started with a lot of attacks today, we got what we wanted, and we got Bos in the BOTD. He won’t win today, but we want him to get some strength in his legs for races like this. He is a very promising cobbler and being in the breakaway today will only develop his skills!
His companions are:
E. Lietaer
K. Kroon
D. Vanendert
F. Dressler
R. Curvers
They get a pretty big lead, but the peloton was always in control. We let our leader, Vanmarcke , take it easy for as long as possible.
But when we get closer to the finish, a good cobbler attack! His name is Ladagnous , he’s going after the breakaway. Bos is pretty empty, so when Ladagnous joins the BOTD he can’t follow the tough pace. He did a good job today though.
Vanmarcke is still not frightened by the attack. There’s still 30 kilometres to go, and he knows he doesn’t have the best fitness yet. We will aim for a mass sprint.
We get what we want, there are not a lot dangerous attacks, but due to the high pace set by Quick-Step and Vacansoleil only Vanmarcke and Vaitkus can survive in a group of 17. This group is going for the sprint!
We wanted to play the Vaitkus-card, but he didn’t have a lot energy, he was barely holding on in this group. So, Vanmarcke had to do it. But his fitness wasn’t high either.
With guys like Steegmans, Veelers and Commeyne it would be very, very hard to win here.
Vanmarcke gave it his everything, but the others were a bit too strong. Commeyne turned out to be the surprising winner, great win by the Landbouwkrediet rider!
The old fox, van Impe finishes in 2nd place. A good result.
Third place goes to van Winden, from Rabobank, again a great performance by him. We surely didn’t expect him to ride so well today! The slightly better sprinters seemed to be low on energy, as Vanmarcke finishes 7th, whereas Steegmans and Veelers finished 4th, and 10th. We are slightly unlucky, because Vaitkus finished in 11th place, we almost had two guys in the top 10.
The teamleader in this race, Abdoujaparov, wasn’t available for comments on the race today.

Stage 4: Vuelta ciclista Catalunya:
Stageprofile:
Our Startlist:
Preview:
Stage 4 already, we are exactly in the middle of this 7-day tour. Gesink is still in a good spot, but there will be lots of attacks again today. The plan is to not attack and waste the energy. We will try to get Gesink in a good spot for the stages coming up, as he is about 40 seconds up.
Report:
The race was ideal for a big group to breakaway. That is just what happened. A group of 21 riders escaped. I won’t bore you with all names. David Zabriskie got the most mountain points though, he is in a fierce fight with Carrara for the Mountain jersey. He has 63 points after this stage, whereas Carrara has 62 points. This will prove to be very exciting!
We decided not to let anyone of our team join. We want our forces available to help Gesink . We made sure there were no dangerous guys for the GC in the group.
We let the other teams do the work today, as we didn’t feel the need to get the group back. We just want to keep Gesink in 1st position. The peloton didn’t want to let the group get too much of a timegap though.
In the descend of the first climb, where nothing happened, the group gets caught, and pretty much everything is back together. Some guys were dropped though. Probably 70 riders left in the first group.
We knew we had to hold on. Gesink was in a good shape and rode his own pace. There were a lot of attacks, but Gesink always rode his own pace and managed to stay up. Until Klöden attacked… Klöden is in a very good shape this Vuelta Catalunya, and he is very close in the GC. He has a couple of seconds on Gesink . The others stayed together for the remainder of the climb. About 30 riders were still together, the climb wasn’t hard enough to make more people fall off.
Going into the descend Gesink is not wasting his energy, he is trying to stay in the front of the group. All of his teammates are gone, as Capecchi has a bad day. Klöden gets caught pretty quickly, with 5kms to go Gesink feels pretty good and because he didn’t attack he has some energy left. He decides to follow his opponent Nicolas Roche . When we reach the last 3 kilometres it’s sure that one of the following five will win it:
Roche, Nibali, Ruben Perez or Moreno. Gesink is still in the wheel of Roche , but losing some energy. He starts sprinting in the slipstream of Roche , and with just 1 kilometre to go he goes himself, probably a bit too late! He goes past Roche and Nibali , but he can’t get to the other two. Ruben Perez and Moreno will fight for the victory.
In the end it is Moreno who gives Katusha the victory! It has been a very good stage by the Spaniard. He wins some bonus seconds on Gesink. Gesink is now 38 seconds ahead of Moreno .
Comment from Honda:
“We are very happy with this result! We lost some bonus seconds, but that’s ok. We managed to hang on and stay in the first place of the GC. That was our goal. Capecchi lost some time, but we will try to make up for that tomorrow. He just had a very bad day today, shit happens right?”
