Paris - Nice Stage 2

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n1profile.jpg

The only real pan-flat stage this year, so the pure sprinters must grab the chance to win a stage. Bartosz is one of these sprinters and he is eager to show his abilities.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/BotD-9.jpg

Today's break was a quite small one with Chainel, Puccio and Rathe. They didn't get a huge gap, as the gap peaked at 5'00.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/P-N1spiderpace.jpg

In the Peloton, SpiderTech - Cervélo took over the pacemaking and let 2 domestiques do the pace. The break's lead started to melt dramaticcally, and they got caught at around 20km.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n1train-1.jpg

At 15kms we formed our train and started to get it organized. Our riders were feeling good, and the train looked very good. At 4km Gömböcz took over the train and we led the peloton comfortably. Afterwards Clemson started to sprint Bartosz into position.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n11km.jpg

At the 1km mark, Clemson was still leading out Piasecki and Petit and Soupé started to jump across our train. The question is: Who will be the first at the line?

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/P-NTrentinwin.jpg

And it's Matteo Trentin, who wins it! He had a tremendous speed, and managed to hold off teammate Boonen, who was also coming very strong. What a Paris - Nice is that for the OPQS team! Piasecki comes 4th after a bit of a box in.

Paris - Nice Stage 3

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n3profile.jpg

Today's profile is strangely classified as flat, although it has a quite hilly run - in with a strong uphill finish. It doesn't really suits Piasecki, so we'll try to get a good placement with our punchy riders.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/BotD-10.jpg

This stage kicked off as usual, some riders decided to attack out of the peloton, to try their luck in the break. However the BotD didn't contain any big names today.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n3spiderpace.jpg

Despite the lack of big names in the daily break, our team started to chase the break and slowly decrease the gap, which topped at 4'00, to the break. Slowly we caught the break and started to prepare for the sprint.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n3run-in.jpg

Everything was running smoothly, but at 5km we faced a big problem. Our riders got blocked in, and they couldn't come out of the trouble.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n3flammerouge.jpg

Under the Flamme Rouge, Belletti was in front with Westra, but they both started to fade. Can they hold on?

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n3simonwin.jpg

No, because Saur's Julien Simon takes it! What a succes for the Continental team! Petit came 2nd and Impey took 3rd. Unfortunately our riders weren't able to compete in the sprint, and Clemson was our best at the 18th place.

Paris - Nice Stage 4

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n4profile.jpg

Today's profile is also classified as flat, although from the middle of it, it's quite hill and finishes on a tough climb.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n4botd.jpg

What a strong break get away today! Gasparotto, Fuglsang, I think these riders are deserving a star status, and...

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n4opqpace.jpg

...the peloton seems to agree with me, and catches the break quite far away from the finish under the surveillance of OPQS.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n4train.jpg

At 5kms the pack was going really fast, we tried to stay at the front and get some good positions before the sprint. The peloton was led by Katusha's train, Spilak, Florencio and Kristoff and they were clearly dominating the field.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n41km.jpg

At 1km mark, we can see that Boonen is in the lead, coming out of the slipstream of the Katusha train, and has a very good gap over the rest of the field. Our riders fell back and were sprinting for some top 20 positions.

i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh505/matinho97/p-n4boonenwin.jpg

And Tom Boonen wins stage 4 of the Paris - Nice! He shows that he can still sprint, and is in a good form before the cobbled classics. Cancellara should be warned after this powerful sprint. Impey came 2nd and Hivert was the 3rd.
