Pablo San Domingo wins the Vuelta with a 58 Recovery stat, a 73 climbing stat and a 66 TT stat? |

Looking at all these results I believe short simulation considers team position and race role (leader, free element, luxury team mate etc.) more than the real stats. That would also explain why Erleaga is not dominating - probably he doesn't have an absolute leader contract and is used as a free element or super domestique for his worse team mates.
That would be realistic though - there are a lot of great cyclists out there who do not get the chance, because managers believe in the old fauvorites - Basso overrating by Liquigas management over the last few years would come as a great example.
Could you please upload his team with info on the contracts? |

Well, Erleaga is currently without a contract so it's hard to say. I don't know what status he had while he was with a team.

Several living legends decided to hang up their bikes for good this year. Former GT-winners Juan Pablo Balencia and Mihail Turov aswell as classic specialists Arend Hulslander and Vasiliauskas retired.
After last years success in the Vuelta, Pablo San Domingo was wildly expected to star this season, and wether or not he dissapointed will depend on who you ask. Many thought that he would dominate the season when he won Paris-Nice, but it turned out to be his only major win that year.
Anthony Bush, who many thought would be the next Tyler Farrar, has been somewhat of a letdown. Being absolutely dominant as a U23-rider many saw him as the next great sprinter. However, he hasn't been winning steadily until he reached his 30's. By winning Milan-Sanremo and taking his 13th stage win in the Giro, he silenced some of the critics. Someone who has been picking up major wins every year however, is both Thies Klaasen and Tadgh Holland. This year Klaasen set a new record in the Ronde Van Vlaanderen by winning it for a 5th time (2027-28-29-31-32) and Holland equaled the record for wins in la Fleche Wallonie with his 3rd. These two have been dominating the classics for years now, but with them getting older and new names emerging we might see a shift of power yet again. Søren Blom is one of those newcomers who might bring back the days of the Danish dominance in the cobbled classics.
Someone who is getting older, but who definately isn't going to leave any room for young pups is Arnaud Augereau. Even at the age of 37 he is still picking up major wins. The frenchman with 4 point jerseys in the Giro to his name won Vattenfall this year thereby winning nearly everything a sprinter can win.
Even though the previous season went without a single major wins to his name, Moises Aguila was back for another year in the saddle. Having won both the Giro and Vuelta several times he tried to go for the Tour last year, but that prize still eluded him. This time he focused on what he knew he could do and didn't enter the Tour de France. It proved to be a smart decision since he would go to a win both races including both point-jerseys and the KoM-jersey in the Giro. His victory in the Vuelta was also his third, he thereby equals the record set by Roberto Herras and Tony Rominger.
Never in history has anyone been able to win both World Championships in the same year, but this year the swede Alexander Wahlberg came painfully close. Being one of the favourites,he was triumphant in the timetrial. In the road race however, he had to see two men cross the line before him. Benoit Colbach and Tommy Lefebvre edged him out by a mere 28 seconds.

I'll do you one better! Why have just one rider, when you can have a whole country?

I see Al-Shahrani cheekily sneaking into the top 10 of the TdF there
Am happy to see Colbach finally get that rainbow jersey too!

Just a few tid-bits of facts that I can think of at the moment:
- On page 3 (or 4) you can see who I thought would be "the stars of tomorrow"... 1 out of 4 made it.
- Italy won the Giro 7 times and the Vuelta twice, but has never won the Tour.
- France has only won one Grand Tour, the Vuelta once, yet Finland has 3 wins in the Tour.
- When it comes to GTs, France has to be compared to Latvia, Lithuania and Belgium in number of wins. They have all won the Vuelta once.

Here's the stats of Waldemar Bogucki, the polish rider who finished 5th in the Vuelta.
I'm sorry it took a few days, I am currently swamp at work and I'm working +/- 11 hours per day now. Therefor the updates might be somewhat delayed, but the story is anything but dead.

Good news, everyone!
I'm down to 10-hour workdays and I have a day off coming soon within the next two weeks so updates will probably start coming in a short while.
I'm sorry for the long wait, but as mentioned, this is a very hectic time of year for me! Stay tuned!
