Stage 5

The final flat stage of this years race and the last chance for the sprinters to take a victory. Who will it be? Cavendish? Farrar?

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0001-44.jpg

Tyler Farrar takes his second win ahead of Mark Cavendish. This was after a strong breakaway went away but was kept under control and eventually caught to set up this close sprint finish.

Stage 6

Les Gets is the finish of the stage today. A fairly steep uphill finish should provide the chance for the favourites to put some time into each other.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0003-30.jpg

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0004-38.jpg

The breakaway establish a huge lead that stretches over 10 minutes. Strongest riders here are Kern of Europcar and Szymd of Liquigas.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0005-25.jpg

At the bottom of the climb upto Les Gets only Kern and Szymd survive from the main break.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0006-29.jpg

The main group hit the bottom of the climb.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0007-24.jpg

And the action starts with an attack from Andy Schleck, but he wasn't allowed to get away and the group come into the finish together. The only man to gain time today is Igor Anton.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0008-17.jpg

Szymd leaves Kern behind to take a brilliant win here in Les Gets.

Voeckler was unable to defend his National championships jersey and instead will pass it on to Yohan Offredo. Offredo was part of an initial 2 man breakaway with Voeckler's team mate Anthony Charteau. They gained a massive 25 minutes on the peleton. Voeckler then sent a few team mates to shut the gap a little before making an incredible solo effort to drag the gap right down. Charteau was caught and dropped and Voeckler just ran out of time to make the catch on Offredo.

An amazing race saw Boivin show his tactical side to win over fellow breakaway compatriot David Veilleux. No one in the main group made an effort to shut this down despite SpiderTech having the advantage with significant more riders. Quite incredible margin to win by.

Tour de France Preview

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/yellow_jersey_of_tour_de_rance_2010_nike.jpg

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/contador.jpg

Alberto Contador is the favourite to win the race and defend his Tour de France title.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/evans.jpg

Cadel Evans has had a mixture of success and poor performances at the Tour in the last few years. Having finished runner up twice, once to Sastre in 2008 and once to Contador in 2007. His main problem has been his team support in the mountains. Could things change this year.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/sanchez.jpg

Samuel Sanchez has had a few top 10 finishes in the Tour but came every close to a podium last year, can he go one step further.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/schleck.jpg

Andy Schleck, undoubtedly Contador's closest threat. A great climber but he lacks against the clock where he tends to concede the Tour. Should be a great duel between them this year.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/green-jersey.jpg

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/Cavendish.jpg

Mark Cavendish, been so close the the green jersey for the past few years, can he make that final step and claim the jersey for the first time.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/EBH.jpg

Edvald Boassan Hagen, the Team Sky sprinter will be hoping to prove his worth up against the best sprinters in the world.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/greipel.jpg

Andre Greipel, after his move from HTC to Omega Pharma, he will be looking to prove that he can beat Cavendish as they continue their rivalry.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/hushovd.jpg

Thor Hushovd is a huge contender for the jersey, not only can he climb a little he has won the Green Jersey in the past.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/tyler-farrar.jpg

Tyler Farrar, a great sprinter in his own right but having a team mate like Thor Hushovd he could be a big danger to Cavendish for the jersey, depending on who Garmin choose as their number one sprinter.

Stage 1- Passage Du Gois- Mont Des Alouettes

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0001-46.jpg

We start this years Tour with a flat stage with a difference. Leaving the spectacular Passage Du Gois behind the peleton head to Mont Des Alouettes where a slight uphill finish could see a surprise winner.

The peleton on the beautiful Passage Du Gois, glorious sunshine makes this point in the race all the more spectacular.

An 11 man break went away featuring Gaudin from home team of the Vendee Europcar. The presence of Rojas condemned this break.

With only Chavanel up the road Farrar leads Hushovd out but is it too late.

Sorry I missed the finish, I was busy stopping Voeckler losing time in the splits, where Leipheimer and Rolland also lost time.
