On a different note: What happened to all the "radios make racing boring"?
There's a difference between "radios make racing boring" and "radios make racing less exciting". And there were radios too in the last (much less exciting) M-SRs. Trying to make such a point based in only one race is wrong by all means. |

It was a sarcastic response to the usual praise of the radio ban that's always posted when there's an exciting non-radio race |

I thought there was an agreement that this -> meant sarcasm. We need a common criterion, dammit. |

For everyone else is sarcasm. It's for me, although I tend to use that smiley for everything ... |

Gilbert was very critical of Filippo Pozzato (Katusha) after the Italian chased him down on the flat road at the bottom of the Poggio.
"At 2.5km from the finish I made a good move but my good friend Pozzato took me back. Why?" he asked bitterly.
I thought he is nice person..who ever is chasing you down inside final Milan-Sanremo 2km...is not your enemy..he is just rival. |

Gilbert shouldn't say it's Pipo's fault he didn't win. They are just not in the same team so it's quite normal that Pipo catched Phill. And than looked back to see that the others where comming. So it's normal that Pipo didn't take over.
And i'm from Belgium so no need to scream around i'm don't like Gilbert orso.

It's like it was the first time Pozzato does a such thing , but i agree , it's not Pozzato's fault if Gilbert didn't win . |

Indeed, there's nothing illegal there, or anything. But Pozzato seems to have such a hatred for Gilbert that he'd sacrifice his own chances to have anyone but Gilbert winning a race he's in.
That's just plain weird. |

If nobody chased down Gilbert, Gilbert would have won - how exactly does that help Pozzato?

I was quite impressed Pozzato chased down Gilbert - it was quite a daring move from him, especially with Cancellara (and Goss) in the group. |

indeed, Maybe Pozzato doesn't (or seems not) to race for the win. It's not only Gilbert that he tracked down. Earlier in RVV he was wheelsucking Boonen al the time. It's just weird. But do you guys think that Goss could have losed the gap to Gilbert?

Well, Gilbert has the problem, that he is n1 favourite in almost every race he is is, with a hill near the finish, so ofc they look at him and chase him down..
The only thing that annoys me about pozzato is that he only looks at Gilbert, knowing that Gilbert wants to win, so if Gilbert feels he needs to, closes the gap himself. |

I think maybe some of the criticism that came Pozzato's way after P-R last year played a part in what he did.
It was Gilbert going away, so someone had to react. Goss was the 'sprinter' in the group, but even if Pozzato hadn't reacted, Goss would have in all likelihood left it to Cancellara or Ballan to try and close. And if they'd hesitated too long, then Gilbert would have won.
In any case, if Pozzato had the strength to chase Gilbert down, then he should have been the one to try and make a move. |
