The results:
Pozzato took the second place in the sprint behind Cunego.

The breakaway
Only 6 km to go and Pozzato is still looking for a good backwheel
4km to go and the sprint trains are prepared,Pozzato decided to take O´Grady´s backwheel
The sprint begins and Pozzato seems to be in a good position but Liquigas seems to be in the best position
Last km and Fischer from Liquigas makes his move
And Fischer takes the lead with 500 metres to go
Fischer is still in front but Pozzato can´t sprint for a top 5 result
Fischer takes the stage win in front of Goss and Paolini.Pozzato becomes 9th

STAGE 4 : PADOVA - SAN MARTINO DI CASTROZZA
The breakaway
Liquigas is leading the pack as we expect already.
With 15 km to go Gerdemann is the first who attacks on the final climb
Sörensen and Aerts are the next
Garzelli and Scarponi go after them
And here we go with the next counter attack.This time Pozzovivo attacks
Soler and Arroyo attack,too
This is the leading group at the 10 km brand
And here comes the pack to the last 10 km
And now Basso is making his move
Cunego is trying to follow Basso
With only 5 km to go Pozzato makes his move
4 km to go and this is the new leading group with Basso and Cunego
2,5 km to go Aerts makes another move out of the leading group
Last km for Aerts
The chasing group reaches the last km
And the sprint begins for them

The start

What a surprise Cunego ,the man in the leader jersey,is attacking first with 20 km to go
And the pack let him go
3 km later Arroyo and Martinez attack
Garzelli,Scarponi,
Sörensen and Pozzovivo start a counter attack
Pozzato can not keep up with this speed
Mazzanti also can´t follow
10 km to go and Liquigas is leading the pack
And then after a long time Basso attacks
And these are the chasing groups of Cunego
Basso,Pozzovivo and Soler attack again.Cunego is still in front

Pozzovivo is Cunego´s first chaser
Basso in the second chasing group

The next hard stage
The breakaway
With more than 30 km to go Soler attacks first
Arroyo and Garzelli start a counter attack
After the hardest part of this climb this is the leading group with Cunego
This is the chasing group with Basso and Pozzovivo
6 km to go and this is the new leading group with Cunego,Soler and Scarponi
Basso attacks out of the chasing group at the 5 km brand
So this is the first group,Basso is also there now

With more than 150 km to go Napolitano tries his luck.Can he catch the leading group??Their advantage is more than 12 minutes
On the downhill these are the three leaders.Ballan,Vaugrenard and Bernucci.
Only 2 km for them the sprint begins
Bernucci is in front
But Vaugrenard is the winner.I know it doesn´t look so in this situation but he overtakes him.Ballan becomes only third.I thought that he is the best sprinter there
Here comes Napolitano after 13'45
And 10 minutes later Cunego and the rest of the pack came

And he managed to stay in front of the pack,last km for him
And that´s it he wins this stage!!!
Cunego attacked on the last hill and became second

The stage is very flat.Good for our sprinters

for mountain stages you shouldn't attack and do your best to save energy for stages after the mountains. the peleton is less likely to chance you down because they are tired. try that out |
