I have to say like the danes: Where is Fuglsang?
He was in the list, but apparently I also didn't paste him. sorry
I really hate this poll system. You should be able to just paste a list of options

Basso for me - though if Evans is back on the Dekker juice, then he should do well. |

I've felt the same way. Valverde and GT just doesn't match. But facing facts, he has finished 2nd here and this is no Tour de France (which he will NEVER win, or podium in), and like Sanchez he hasn't raced any of the two other big ones and eventhough Sammy is sublime, I'd pick Valverde over him any day.

Cyclingnews' usual anglophone-centric articles are as funny as ever.
Here's an excerpt on Evans.
After a super-successful Tour campaign in 2007, where he won the hearts of fans world-over as an under-dog taking on the mighty Astana
Yes, he had terrific battles with Astana in 2007. Astana really were a threat in that Tour

You honoustly believe Horner can be a Vuelta winner?
I'm sorry, but no. Simple no. And yes I have seen the Giro.
I voted for Horner... and I think he has no chance.
But he's one of my favorite riders (in terms of personality) and has been a tireless helper over the course of his career. It looks like he might (depending on Vino) actually get a shot to lead a GT team... so I had to vote for him.
But again... in reality I think he's got no shot. Perhaps if EVERYTHING goes well... a top 5, but more likely a top 10 is a realistic goal. |

Woa. Easy now. Fuglsang was not even in the top 5 of the Dauphine and already worsening in the last mountain stage. Your best hope is that he keeps a good level during 3 weeks and finish top 10
I just have a good "stomach-feeling" for him in this Vuelta, I know he is going to do well, eventhough he hasn't ridden the hard mountainstages, or prepared specially for the most important climbs in this Vuelta... |

EDIT: Wait why Danielson and not Vandevelde?

Because Garmin haven't officially released a startlist for the Vuelta....but they have released one for the Tour of Missouri and Vande Velde is on it.

Anton is also interesting man..he was real bad in TdF (that is good sign)..was super before the crash one year ago. I would like to but him inside top 6 (I was ready to say top 5..but that 5th, belongs to Gesink..)

Of winning? No, not at all.
For top 5? Yes definately. Last year he was 7th at only 55 seconds of Valverde (5th) and 5 seconds of Rodriguez (6th)
The number 3 (Sastre) was only 2 minutes in front.
This year he has been stronger than last year all the time. So I would say top 5 is a very real goal for him.
Oh and Gesink would definately have a bigger chance of winning than Horner at any rate. But they both won't win

I think Gesink stands a good chance in winning this, at least a podium, in my eyes he is one of the 3 best climbers in the field, so if Gesink can make a solo, and get away from the "favourite group" early on f. ex. the Sierra Nevada stage, he will be very dangerous.
And I would have loved an overall win from Gesink, he seems like a great guy. |

Is there a possibility Evans changes his priorities and focus on La Vuelta instead of WC? This is one of his last opportunities to win a GT and, actually, I'd like to see him winning.

3 followed days with ESP cat climb finishes is impressive. The win contest is between Valv, Basso (voted) and Sanchez. |

For any Americans like myself who don't get the chance to watch much cycling, La Vuelta will be covered live and in full on universalsports.com, 10 A.M will be our start time here

Evans was my first pick but so much mountain doesn't plays in his and his team favor. Also he having the relax approach (can also be good thing), his goal is worlds and Lombardia, he will decide what to do of the vuelta after the big mountain stages.

Well I guess that with the startlist advanced, there's nobody able to dominate the mountain stages in a Contador or Sastre way (maybe with the exception of Mosquera), so I think it'll come up to the stage racer with most fitness left.
I think Basso, Gesink or Cobo should be given the favouritism as they theoretically got more fuel in their legs. On the other hand you can never discount Evans or the Schlecks. But I don't believe it'll be Sammy's or Piti's turn to take the GC home. Whoever told you they can win a GT probably still believes in Santa Claus
