After the team being involved in 9 doping scandals in the past 9 years, the sponsors have had it. The team currently known as Euskaltel is likely to end.

As it stands, Spain, Italy, Australia, Germany, Russia, Luxembourg, Belgium, Great Britain, USA and Norway will all get an allocation of 9 riders in the Mens Road Race - only the Tour de Pologne is left to see if Netherlands of France can make it in or whether they must settle for 6 riders.
These are the rankings:
1 1 ESP Spain 1334
2 2 ITA Italy 910
3 3 AUS Australia 706
4 4 GER Germany 661
5 5 RUS Russian Federation 590
6 6 LUX Luxembourg 563
7 7 BEL Belgium 505
8 8 GBR Great Britain 462
9 9 USA United States of America 389
10 10 NOR Norway 332
11 13 CZE Czech Republic 321
12 12 FRA France 301
13 11 NED Netherlands 285
14 14 SUI Switzerland 253
15 15 DEN Denmark 210
Cyclingnews says that a French rider would need to make Top 2, or a Netherlands rider would need to make a Top 5 to get past Norway - assuming that Boasson Hagen doesnt score any pts.
9 riders for Britain is going to be brilliant, and its all down to Cav and Wiggins Also good to see that Dan Martin's ranking position will earn Ireland 3 riders in the race

Yeah, the rankings are even more screwed up now than they used to be.
Luxembourg can't even field a 9-man pro roster... |

The way the ranking is done right now is downright RETARDED
A country will 9 good riders will get to take 3 of them.
A country with 1 star and 8 amateurs who aren't good enough to be water carriers for Pro Continental teams is able to take all 9.
Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid ranking.
And because of that, we see the kind of corruption that happened at the tour of switzerland: Cancellara's manager was tasked with desinging the tour's route so he could design one that Cancellara could win, so that Switzerland could get some points to ride the world cup "at home" with more than just 3 riders.

They had 9 men last year

As far as I can tell though, they should only get 3. Switzerland arent in the Top 10 of the World one to get 9, and are too low down in the Europe one to get 6.

Uhm, as far as I understand, the decision is based upon the World Ranking alone, meaning that both Denmark and Switzerland will currently get 6 riders to the Worlds.
About Luxembourg, I repeat: "Luxembourg can't even field a 9-man pro roster..." - with emphasis on "pro".

Look at what Cyclingnews is saying about Czech Republic, Switzerland is in pretty much the same situation

Luxembourg could go with those riders :
A.Schleck
F.Schleck
Kirchen
Gastauer
B.Joachim
Didier
Those riders could be useful (and that's not sure) but after you have only Differdange's riders. :s
The same thing for Norway they haven't so many good riders. |

Norway got some very good riders. Hushovd, Arvesen, Boasson Hagen, Rasch, Remme and Nordhaug would maybe been enough. We also have Kristoff and Haavardsholm who are very good riders, but are good candidates to win U23, so they are not in it for the pros. Then we got Wilmann, Nybø and Hegreberg who is good riders, good enough for a Pro.Cont team.

That's not wrong, but who is Nordhaug ? I know Hushovd, Arvesen and Hagen like very very good riders, Rasch and Remme a little bit less, and Kristoff, Haavarsholm and Wilmann like good riders but are they enough good to have an impact on the race ?
I doubt about that... |

Take the CQ ranking and there the Netherlands have almost 2 times as much points as Norway (sorry Andreas) and Luxemburg. France HAS 2 times as many points
The CQ ranking = old UCI ranking.
The old ranking was much more logical than this stupid ranking. I'm sorry for the Norwegians here. But Rasch, Remme and Nordhaug would not even last halfway thhe race |

Steffen Kjærgard, the one leading the Norwegian national team, said earlier this year that having so many spots is great, but he fear that we don't have good enough riders to bring 9 rider to the RR. |
