Challenge Vuelta a Mallorca - Stage 1
Here I am, I'm ready for my first pro race. I was raring to go, and hoping to do well.
My team manager saw I was up for this, and let me go in the early break.
Behind the pack, an unlucky Drapac Porsche rider crashed. It's Ashley Humbert!
When a front group finally forms properly, I'm in there, and working well. It's looking good.
Just when the break is working together, an attack from behind blasts past. I chase as well as I can.
Another group forms, a group of 3, and I'm there.
Stef Clement catches us, and passes, but we are all going to be caught.
My group is caught, and I am very tired.
Clement is caught by a Garmin leaad peloton.
On the run in to the finish, my teammate Vasilev, goes down. I'm already behind him.
At the front end, Daniele Bennati wins the stage. Andre Cardoso took 4th, and Marque took fourth, good performances by Palmeiras.
Vasilev sprints well, and just gets into the peloto at the finish.
I come in over 3 minutes back. I'm young, inexperienced and went in the break on my first ever stage. I am not exactly satisfied, but, pleased to start my career.
Humbert finishes, 12 minutes back.

I have klearnt as many languages as possible (through reading cycling magazines and books.) It was just the step up of pace from U23 cycling to Pro Cycling that wasso difficult. |

This year - Stay in the pack, learn, get better. Maybe get in a few breaks.
The Future - Win the Vuelta! (and more). |
