Evans has had one bad Tour, but questioning his leadership of the team id abit ridiculos, In my opinion he should be team leader of Silence Lotto and besides Armstong has rumoured of wanting Andy Schleck for his new team. |

have you even watched the ventoux. arcalis , the queenettappe ,giro last year?
i don't think so
he finished 7th in the giro last year (without attacking)
and it looks like he has grown a lot this year

Armstrong wants to be leader in the tour, and there is no way Andy and frank Schleck is gonna be his helpers!

I neve said he isn't good. It is just what he did this year. I know he is capable and even said he will be a good GC guy. He did what I said this year because of his time loss. |

Okay he did a very nice tour indeed, but in all honesty he was no way near the top 10 before the last stage (ridingwise). He was in a couple of attacks, thereby getting seconds, atleast according to my memory. Same goes for Le Mevel, who wouldn't have been more than 18th or so if not for the breaks. It happens every year that a lucky punch is to finish if not in the 10s then just outside, it doesn't make them a quality GC hope. Dessel is a good exampe... |

On the Ventoux stage Van den Broeck showed he belonged to the best 10 climbers of the Tour, he finished 11th, with 2 escapees in front, so 9th...
I don't think Vandenbroeck was that much worse than Kreuziger or Vandevelde climbingwise.
You also forgot why he went into those long attacks, because he lost 6 minutes in the TTT after the fall + bike change. So he already focussed on stage wins, not the GC, from there on...
edit: can't imagine I'm defending a Belgian rider now. I must be getting old.

Well I agree that he did extremely well on the Ventoux stage, but I doubt he could've done much better if he had decided to race elseway. If he didn't lose those 6mins, he wouldn't have been allowed to go on the attacks I think, so it's about 50/50, what he gained I believe...
That said, he did very good, so did a couple of other riders. I was a bit dissapointed in Kreuziger, as I would've betted on him for 7th or so, but then again, Nibali was the one doing the better this time. Next year Kreuziger could be around 5th...
Van den Broeck won't be more than top 10 next year either imo... But I could be mistaken, it wouldn't be the first time |

if silence had any sence, they'd release cadel from is contract. And if cadel had any sence, he'd go willingly and find another team. After this year's tour, there's no doubt silence will ride for Van Den Broek, and i don't blame them. They're a belgian team with a belgian gc contender, of course that's what they're going to do, even if cadel would, for the time being at least, be the better option. Silence, as a team, aren't good enough to win a GT, with either evans or VDB...yet. Realistically, i'd say cadel has another season or two as a potential gc winner, and silence won't be able to build a strong enough team around him in that time. Van Den Broek, on the other hand, has age on his side, and by the time he's ready to challenge for the maillot jaune silence should be strong enough to challenge with him. Silence would be better off spenidng cadel's salary on one or two super domestiques, and cadel would be better off finding a team missing a gt leader...and a team that's strong enough to support him. |

How would that be smart?

If he ever gets that good, he'll be riding for Quickstep. |

well evans isn't going to ride for anyone else, nor is van den broek, but i would expect silence to ride for van den broek because he's younger and he's belgian, so cadel would just be taking up a spot on their roster and a presumeably very expensive contract, both of which could be better filled by a domestique or two. I don't know who, but i'm sure they could buy a half decent one for the kind of money they'd be paying cadel. |

He has in the past, he would now.

He just did. So he obviously will continue to.

The team will ride for whoever shows better next year. That's it. It's the rational thing to do and it's also what they've stated they'll do.
Firing a strong rider because you have a rider that's almost as strong doesn't make sense.

There are three reasons that, each by itself defeat that reasoning, so all combined are just redundant. They are:
1. This isn't football. Riders aren't bought unless it's an elite team buying an amateur.
2. Firing Cadel would mean paying him the rest of his contract. So it would be exactly as expensive financially as keeping him.
3. The reason I asked you which domestiques is that there aren't any available that can possibly be anywhere near as good as Evans. Much less 2 of them for a combined salary of 1.2 million euros which is approximately what Evans makes.

He's saying that without Kohl and Dekker on their roster they have a lot of money they can use to sign good riders. |

...this was just one TdF.
Cycling is much more outside that race..Lance should know that (he is trying to hire specialy 2009 TdF stars).
And Lotto ..Evans still is a man.
Dont know was it sponsor demanding..but "heil" to Evans and Menchov that they finished this race.. after first week knowledge..that this is gonna be disaster. |
