it's an illusion that they take drugs because it's so hard. They take them to become better. |

I've seen plenty of complains about this year's Tour profile. But I don't think it is so bad. I mean, a lot of people want like 6 uphill finishes, but they also want a Tour that is decided within the last few days at the same time. They also want hard as hell stages, but without any doped rider. Most people say also that the finish at Verbier was too easy (WTF?). Not to mention the endless complaining about the first week, as if the first week of the Tour was usually exciting.
The only general opinion I do accept is about the TTT and its exagerate influence on the GC, but, again, I don't blame too much the tour's organization, because, anyways, they were trying to do something exciting and nobody guessed time gaps would be so huge (but it is easy to say, afterwards, that it was a crappy stage, in an hypocrital a posteriori analysis).
Fortunately, I'm pretty sure that the last week stages will be pretty exciting. Podium and white jersey competition are hard and even if there are a couple of mountain stages that don't end uphill, it won't be a walk on the park (The Tour has had plenty of profiles like this week's ones, and with quite exciting and disputed stages).
For tomorrow's stage I expect a winning breakaway, and I hope several king of the mountain's contenders are there, to make things exciting. With Moncoutie desire to win an stage and MartÃnez and Pellizotti not wanting him to get to many points, besides their own personal competition, things could be great.

Apologies if I missed this - but why is Sammy Sanchez not riding this year?
I thought he was supposed to... |

He decided to focus on the Vuelta this year, i guess a combination of no one else looking like they were going to peak for it and the fact he wants to win a GT in his career

Agreed on the second point. As for the first point, my answer is that it'll be Sánchez vs. Basso vs. Gesink vs. Valverde vs. Evans vs. Cunego *snicker* vs. god knows who else
EDIT: Joaquim RodrÃguez, of course. And this time well rested, not like the Giro when he'd been in top form for two whole months by the time it started.

Winning brake and not so much attacking from the overall contenders behind. Maybe someone like vandevelde or such who are long way behind. I hope for windless day, cus if there's lots of wind, ppl wont attack. I think the climbs today aren't steep enough for ppl to crack and lose contact. They are long climbs, but just not steep enough.
I think the organisers should put more climbs with real gradients, like col de romme or calibier in the route. and with mountaintop finish (the stage with romme & calibier isn't mountaintop). Average gradients close or over 8% suit the climbers and will crack ppl. 6% ave gradients will not crack ppl and also non-climbers will go over them way better.
Jurgen Van Den Broeck will win today. |

Don't underestimate the cols today.Ive done them. They are steeper then they seem.
especially the grand saint-bernard. It may not look steep but its very very long. Same goes for the petit.
I guess some favourites will crack today(if astana rides)

The problem is the long descent, Phill Ligget says it's one of the longest descents in tour history.
I'm hoping for fireworks though on the Petit Saint-Bernard, i doubt much will happen with the favouites of the Grand Saint-Bernard. Some KOM points will be taken

He already had his breakaway. i doubt if he joined another one
And i don't see him attacking the group of "favourites" on the last climb
Evans won't allow it(Evans got cocky btw)

He's been in more than one breakaway. Quite a few, actually.
And today is finally a stage where it would be smart to be in the break. |

I've a lame question: does the lanterne rouge award give any money or it is just symbolic? Because Van Hummel hugely deserves it.
