Abother flat stage. Let's see if Katusha can take two in a row. No classified climbs today, so not too much action to be expected.
Golden boy Grabsch taking it easy. What a feeling it must be to wear that jersey. He should enjoy it while it lasts.
Duval was on the attack again. Today he is joined by fellow countryman Turgot and Milrams Knaven. They held almost a 10 minute lead before the sprinter teams started to up the pace.
QuickStep in control. This will end in a mass sprint.
4 kms to the line. All the sprinters are battling for position. McEwan and Napolitano are going to the far right. Boonen is following.
Hushovd is flying to the front. Has he gone too early? Breschel is following him, while Napolitano is still behind McEwen. 1.3 kms to the line.
The Norweigan will take the stage. He was just too powerful for the others to handle him. He will also grab Grabsch's golden jersey. Breschel takes his second podium place in a row as he is second, while Koldo Fernándes is third.
Further back Katusha leader, Karpets, is involved in a crash. Let's hope he's not injured. Gutierrez who was also in the crash is forced to abandon, what a shame.

The first hilly stage of the Vuelta. The terrain promises an action
packed race and the riders truly delivered one.
With 200kms to go, Ignatiev attacks. He's clearly targeting the
mountain classification. Surely the peloton woun't let him get to
far ahead.
Ignatiec is out in front alone. A group of nine containing, mountain
classification leader, Knees are close behind.
The russian is first over Alto de Cauberg. Arrieta is second while
Knees doesn't score any points.
THe ten man strong Ingatiev group is working well together, enjoying
the scenery and having a drink of water. With 120kms to go the hold
a strong 10 minutes lead and the peloton will have to start to react
shortly.
Disaster for Rabobank! Menchov was involved in a crash and is left
behind the peloton. The whole team will help get him back to the
peloton. Saxo Bank's Fuglesang and Vuelta jinxed Karpets was also in
the crash. They've getting no help from their teammates and have to
rely on each other. Will Karpets finish the Vuelta? I have my
doubts.
Motivated by the fall of Menchov, the peloton is picking up the
pace. Quite interesting to see how womething happening at the far
back can influence the fate of the ones out in front. I'm sure
Ingatiev and his companions disagree.
Saxo Bank's Breschel is on his back.
Rabobank and Menchov are back on level terms. How much energy did
they spend?
Gilbert, Barredo and Sorensen attacks with 50 kms to go. This could
prove to be vital.
Tough day for the dutch helpers as they once again find themselves
forced to work hard for Menchov.
Valjavec and Basso attack. Still 35 kms to go. This sure is an
action packed stage. Gilbert has joind the leaders, they are now
just shy of two minutes ahead. Those who have been out in front all
day appears marked by the effort.
They breakaway had been working well together for a long time, when
Gaultier decided to attack going up Mont Theux. Surely an act of
desperation as he tries to cling on to the last chance of a stage
win.
And here come the favorites. Sanchez, Kirchen and Perreiro. THis
could be decisive.
Popovych has started chasing down the dangerous trio that now is out
in front. A group of other strong riders (Gerdemann, Basso, Barredo
etc) is 30 seconds behind Popo.
5 kms to go and the trio is still togehter. They are over a minute
ahed. The winner of the stage will take the golden jersey.
The sprint is on. My money is on Sanchez.
Kirchen goes to the front. Is this enough to secure the victory?
Kirchen, Sanchez and Perreiro. Columbia gets control of the golden
jersey once again after loosing it to Hushovd yesterday.
Karpets crosses the line 27 minutes after Kirchen. Stubbe and Pichot
are the only riders to abandon the Vuelta today. Others will follow,
rest asure. Kirchen takes golden jersey, Ignatiev snaps the red
mountain jersey, while Hushovd is in blue tomorrow.

The fifth day of the Vuelta features a fairly flat stage. Two
classified climbs will guarantee some sort of action.
The first break that was allowed to get free of the peloton was 15
men strong. Knees, Brandt, Arrieta, Mazzanti Duval, Tjallingi,
Pauriol and a few others were in it. Most of them had the two climbs
of the day in focus.
His hope to keep the mountain jersey for tomorrow was punctured
along with his tire.
With 30 kms to go, the 15 in front still had a 3 mins lead. The
sprinter teams worked hard though.
At the 10km mark, the lead was down to 45 seconds. Surely the
sprinters would catch the men out in front.
The riders out in front begin to realise that they won't make it and
Pauriol is first to attack from within the break. Coppel and
Paulinho follows.
5 km mark, the gap is 30 seconds. Pauriol, Coppel, Paulinho, Knees,
Del Nero is the order. Behind them the sprinters are building up
speed. Will the break make it after all?
Paulinho and Del Nero looks strong.
The spaniard celebrates when he crosses the line. What a day for Del
Nero! And for Fuji - Servetto. Knees and Paulinho are second and
third to reach Vinaroz.

I think the next couple of stages will reveal it, or at least give a clue. I'll say this much, it's not Euskatel.

No clue hidden in this stage. Would the story be more enjoyable if I revealed the team?
Stage 6
A fairly flat stage and 40 degrees celsius. It will be a tough race
that most likely will end in a mass sprint.
The break of the day featured Mori, Augé, Coppel, Paulinho and
Pliuschin. Another group of 4 riders, including yesterdays winner -
Del Nero, were on their tail.
Left in limbo. Turgot was not able to keep up with the breakaway and
found himself alone. It will be a long day in the sun for him.
The chase is on. The sprinter teams worked together and the lead was
cut with every turn of the pedal. With 55kms to go, the 8 left out
in front were 5 minutes ahead. Still plenty of time to catch them.
WIth 10 kms to go the pack is almost back on level terms. Mori
decides that it's time to go alone. Coppel, Ljungqvist and Augé
tries to follow.
And Mori gets a small gap. Will it be enough?
Mori is caught, the sprint is on. Geslin finds himself in a good
position.
Gilbert is out in front, has he managed to trick all the sprinters?
Bennati is coming fast from behind, but the line is just 1400 meters
away.
An excellent performance by the Silence Lotto rider as he takes the
stage win. Geslin and Duque are second and third.
