Brit commentators say, it dips up but with cavendish team support as he always gets it won't cause him a problem

Cavendish himself has identified this stage as 'winnable', and that really says it all for me, because he and his team are very thorough in their stage analysis.
Unless he's on an off day or involved in a crash, I expect him to be up there fighting for the victory. |

Cavendish is definately the big favourite for today....The final kilometer isn't that hard.....The only excitement will be if Hushovd can manage second and hold on his green jersey |

With the uphill I expect guys like Hushovd, Rojas, Ciolek and Freire that are better uphill than Cavendish to be closer to him or maybe beat him. Unless they just hang in his wheel like always

I quite don't get it. Isn't it (30/500)*100%=6%, for the last 500m? Somebody tell me if I'm mistaken, thanks.

The danish comentators said that it was 3% for the last km.

Yes, 3% for the last km, but 6% for the last 500 m. That's the important thing. Elsewhere we could say it's -0,3% for the last 5 km and conclude that it's a descending sprint.

It's definately 6%, maybe Danish commentators are bad calculators?
On google maps it's even 7% for 100m. |

Not bad calculators, Ruben. It's actually 3% for the last km, but that data is misleading because it's almost flat between -1km and -500m and then it's 6% for the last 500m. As I said, you can say, without being wrong, that the last 10 km are in average -0,34% , but that doesn't mean it is a slightly descending sprint.

the british commentators keep saying (and Sean Kelly) say the sprint shouldn't cause problems for people like Cavendish. It's not too bad.

This is quite pointless, Ruben. You said perhaps Danish commentators were bad calculators, but I pointed out it wasn't the case; they talked about the last kilometer and it is true that it's about 3% ( (199-167/1000)*100%=3,2% ). But, as I also said, the average climb rate of the last kilometre is misleading because is during the last 500 that the road goes uphill, not before that.

I more or less assumed everyone already knew it was about the last 500m, sorry. |

What's Columbia's idea? I don't think today's stage is suited to Cavendish.

They still have Kirchen, Hincapie, and Eisel, all of whom could do well today, even if Cav can't handle the finish. |
