Cancellara in yellow for the last time tomorrow?
Today on cyclingnews' commentary they said that many pundits think Cance can win the Tour. I don't know if they meant eventually or this year, but either way I'd like to meet those pudits.
And SLAP them in the face.
Well, Danish media is obsessed with this idea. Riis says 'no' this year, because Canc needs to lose some weight - but isn't denying that it may happen in the future.
If Canc indeed loses som weight (but not to much that it has influence on his TT), he can indeed win the tour.
He's already lost quite a lot. Not nearly as much as Wiggins and Vande Velde have lost in the past two years, though.
Or, for that matter, as much as Evans who's lost quite a bit this year.
Anyway, tomorrow we'll find out how much each of their climbing has improved as a result.

I guess he has lost some weight, but I find it hard to believe a guy with the name "Spartacus" can fly up those mountains. Maybe tomorrow. MAYBE. But it's not as tough as climbs he'll see later this race. |

Tomorrow I think Thor will go in a breakaway to get the green. |

He say himself he want to take the green jersey as soon as possible. But it is still 2 weeks left and they are also going to help Carlos, now that they are going into the mountains. |

Oh it's tough alright. The thing that speaks to Cancellara's advantage is the tendency of how the first mountain stage is ridden in a Grand Tour nowadays. Very seldom do we see the favourites attack from long way out, even on a climb like this. It's going to be decimated tomorrow. Drastically, but no-one, not even Cadel, Carlos or Menchov, will try anything, I'm quite sure of that. That being said I still don't see Cancellara clinging on to the lead group, which I think will consist of 7-10 riders by the end of it, and then they will fight it out in the last 300 metres or something like that.
If not a break, then Contador will win tomorrow.

Does anybody have an idea of how Caisse d'espargne will ride? Are Pereiro captain or LL Sanchez who dissapointed a lot at the first time trial. And what about Rigoberto Uran. Is he allowed to ride freely or? |

Given the major time differences already, I'm not sure we won't see a multitude of attacks on the final climb.
And the way the GC is shaped could lead to interesting attacks on the weekend stages that would otherwise be mind-numbingly boring.
Also, A_Schleck forgot to mention it, so I'll have to be the one to: if Breschel was here he'd have won today's sprint by 30 bike lengths |

I am sure, we will see plenty of attacks, it is the only true mountains-stage in the Pyrenes, Sastre, Schleck and co. will need to take some time from Contador |

On his blog Vande Velde writes that DZ told him that VV's pulls on the TTT put Dave into the red. I hope that speaks more about Vande Velde's form than Zabriske's and the he has recovered from his Giro crash and will still be in the hunt for a podium. He's placed pretty nicely right now with Evans deep and Menchov MIA. You never know what will happen. |

What may be intresting to see is what happens with Astana.
Does Lance get the jersey as a symbolic thing, or are they going to be told "Once your on the mountain, it's each man for himself".
Whatever i'm hoping this stage will give a bit of the astana answer.
Also Lance predicts that Carlos Sastre will attack tomorrow.

A guy that's imo a big questionmark for this stage (Even bigger than Armstrong & Cancellara) is Tony Martin.
How do you guys reckon he will do in the mountains especially now that Rogers is out of the GC? |

He will still be in Cav's train, and then he will burn way too much energy... I think Monfort will be given the green light too go for a decent GC place... |

If Armstrong does get yellow tomorrow then cycling has taken 1 step forward and 2 steps back...
Look out the cancer of cycling is back! |
