Valverde should be banned globally. If he was almost any other rider on any other team, he would have been suspended by his team by now. Its disgraceful that this isnt the case |

Sums it up eloquently for me. More severe punishments have been handed out to riders for a lot less. |

If UCI don't take action i'm sure he will still race in spain but I dont see why they don't, bearing in mind that they tried to ban him from the worlds. Or was that not the UCI?

I agree 100% on this. And btw. he won't ride Tour de France as stage 1 (atleast think it's that one ) takes a detour into Italy, so won't be getting long

Stage 1 takes a trip to Italy? No, it doesn't (at least not until we know the full route).
Stage 16 goes into Italy

Yes, only 16 goes through Italy. 1 stays in Monaco, 2 goes from Monaco, southwest into france.
Maybe he can get past the border by disguising as a Milram rider. They seem to be invisible to everyone in every race.

Sorry thought it was stage 1 that went to Italy but the fact is that it goes through Italy so he'll most likely not race TDF. And UCI should have made the ban international by that time anyway.

the problem for UCI can be what will happen if Spanish court will decide that AV is innocent because of some procedural mistakes (lawyers know the ways). Then UCI will be in extremely bad position.
Don´t be mistaken - Even that I am Valverde fan I hope thet he and everyone (including tennis and football stars) implicated in OP will be arrested and banned. Including AC, LL and all others.
On the other side I don´t see any problem for Valverde riding and winning if he has hope that he will not be banned worldwide. Everyone of us would do the same. I stil feel that Caisse have something in their pockets otherwise it doesn´t make sense at all....
So Let´s all hope that he will be banned, He will serve 2 years and he will return to win some classics again. |

Just small remark - it is case of all big guys - Boonen failed 3 cocaine tests - any other guy will be out of competition now and I believe that anyone of us would be already in prison too....
And we still forget that AV wasn´t caught cheating like Vino or Ricco. His case is exactly the same as Ivan Basso (who was rightfully suspended as AV should be)....
I just see difference in that - Ban for both but difference is still there.... |

About Boonen.
In many countries it is not illegal to be high. They will apprehend you if they find but they cant send you to prison. If you do certain things while high, for example driving, you can get sent to jail though.
Possesion on the other hand would have been something different. They didnt find anything on him or in his appartment from what i understand. Therefor no he cant be sent to jail for what he was caught doing.
He got an addiction and therefor the team should take resonsibility and help him. In many countries there are laws saying employers are responsible to offer treatment and only when that fails can they fire him. I hope that is the case in Belgium too.
Valverde on the other hand should get a 2 years ban. People like him who been caught and still fight so hard to get free on a technicality makes me sad. I do understand that UCI are worried about how it would play out with the spanish justice system. Seems like they would fight for Valverde. |

If Valverde gets banned. I hope after his 2 years are up he can come back and finally win a grand tour. |

Is there anywhere you can actually read parts of OP? Or is it all confidential? |
