He finished the Giro, and pulled out of the Tour due to the Olympics. He'll be aiming for top shape for the Tour (possibly withdrawing from the Giro soon, tomorrow could even be his last stage) and I expect him to be a big challenger for the Green jersey as he should finish the Tour this time around |

Yes, agree with you on that one. He also said in a interview that he wanted Boasson Hagen for his sprint train in TDF, so maybe they will pull out both Edvald and Mark them? |

I don't know if Columbia will bring Hagen in 2 GTs at his age.

I hope not. Doing 2 GTs at this age would be awful for Hagen's development, would help burn him out and would increase the risk of injuries quite a lot in the future.

Perhaps Renshaw will do the Tour aswell as the Giro for Cavendish's train - maybe Greipel will be available for the Tour aswell.
I wpuldnt have thought Hagen would want to withdraw from the Giro tho. |

Long way to go, still. Real mountains are yet to arrive.

I cant see EBH wanting out of the Giro either. Columbia will get their wins regardless of who leads out Cav. I see a lot of Mechov fans, but he seems to be riding a little too well in the Giro this year for me to think he will still be at his peak in the Tour. I think AC, the Schlecks, (maybe even Basso and Lance) will be in better shape than Menchov come July.
Yellow: Alberto Contador (he has never finished a GT without the leaders jersey on his shoulders)
Green: Cavendish (if he finishes)
White: Andy Schleck
Mountain: Sastre (with a long prologue in Monaco on Stage 1 (15km) and then the TTT on Stage 4 (38km) I think Sastre will be down on time enough that by the time he hits the mountains on Stage 7 that he will go for this jersey. He does not have the team behind him that he did last year, and will suffer because of it. Esp when AC will have Popo, Lance, Horner, and Levi backing him up.) |

Basso won't ride the Tour, so he won't be better than Menchov. Denis also had a good Giro last year as well, but not as good as he done this one so far.

Agreed

Don't discard Petacchi that easily. There's only one more sprinters' stage, and in the only time so far Petacchi went head to head with Cavendish, the kid came out on the wrong end.
That said, Cavendish has two major advantages in that he has a train to lead him out, which Petacchi doesn't (his train is sitting home with injuries) and in the fact that he doesn't have to pull the pack along in mountain stages, which Petacchi has had to do in several occasions.

Quite. He'll do well to be top 5 at the Tour, after this monster effort at the Giro.

Except for the time when he did

Keep in mind Menchov tends to ride his second grand tour of his season better then his first one. This is why he's done the Giro this and last year; to be better for the Tour. |

He did it in 2005, remember?

I can almost guarantee you that Sastre will go for the GC. And with only 3 uphillfinishes (Arcalis, Verbier and Ventoux), Sastre won't get enough points to take it. It would've been fun if Thomas Voeckler really went all-in for it this year. |

Yes, "luckily"....because I hadn't counted on the mountains at all with that prediction. Since they're so rare in a grand tour aren't they?
And of course I certainly didn't count on Lövkvist the 1-week tour rider blowing up after one week like he did.
Oh wait, I did

But a lot of KoM points were taken by Kohl and Ricco, who were then excluded, but as far as Im aware, the points from any climb they scored in are not re-allocated. |
