After a good race like that, I think that you will have a great and powerful team in five season!

Good luck.

Welcome in Malaysia, where my team will participate in local stage race - Tour de Langkawi. I´ve decided to change my squad in last minute, Sep Vanmarcke will join instead of Matthew Brammeier. If we take a look at the startlist, we can find big names like Sastre, Moncoutie, Siutsou, Danielson...competition is pretty tough. According to our race numbers, no one count us as favorites of race, and they are right, I have no rider who is capable to hold with main contenders in mythical climb - Genting Highlands. So my personal goals are modest, I´d be satisfied with some podium places in flat stages, maybe I could try to send some rider to fight for KOM jersey in early part of Tour. Time will see, stage reports should follow soon...

Stage 1

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/9022009-0.png

Steven Van Vooren has been sent into early breakaway group. Ha was active most of time and won only mountain sprint on way, reaching KOM jersey for stage 2.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/9022009-1.png

Stage decided in bunch sprint, though. The best current Irish riderNicolas Roche smashed all his rivals in the sprint.
Nico Eeckhout conquered nice 3rd place!

Stage 2

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/10022009-0.png

Second flat stage with one short but steep hill in first part.

Steven Van Vooren has decided to keep his jersey, joined break again, won the mountain sprint and improved his leading in KOM competition.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/10022009-1.png

Group was caught later on and we could saw another bunch sprint. Ruben Perez from Euskaltel took nice win and gained yellow jersey for stage 3. I tried to built my own train before sprint, but it failed.

For a little team like that, it is very good.

Good results so far - think you should only race in Europe though. Wink

Nice stuff from Mr McCauley. I take it he didn't win the NZL Champs then? (Or is it a cruddy simulated champs in June?)

Oh, and nice results from your team of course Wink

maybe you're right, but in that case my season would be very very short. And btw I've got invitation on ToW without of my own request Grin

Stage 3

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/11022009-0.png

Flat stage with usual course and usual result - mass sprint. Yesterday winner Ruben Perez was fastest again, taking his second win and slightly improving overall leading. Nico was unlucky, finishing just under podium places.

Stage 4

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/12022009-0.png

Longest stage of Tour with some short but quite steep hills. I'm afraid my men will struggle here a bit...

120km to go and Sep Vanmarcke got puncture. He lost over 14 minutes in GC.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/12022009-1.png

Nico Eeckhout had some difficulties in second climb, but with great help of Jan Ghyselinck, he managed to keep contact with main group. He recovered and when some contenders attacked in last kilometres, he was able to follow!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/12022009-2.png

Although his marvelous effort he managed to take another 4th place only. David Moncoutie took the win with same time as peloton, despite of visible gap between attackers and bunch. Ruben Perez will wear yellow jersey in queen stage tomorrow.

There is no surprise that Van Vooren lost his KOM jersey. Maybe he could to try hold it for one more stage, but as already mentioned, next stage will finish on Genting Highlands and winner will probably take KOM jersey even without no points reached before.

Gordan McCauley, New Zealand 5 times national champion. Won a stage on your first page, beating one of your riders. Gordan McCauley, one of my favourite riders.

If Nico will survive Genting Highlands, there is chance to take sprinter jersey...yes, it's my new goal here in Malaysia.

Stage 5

i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13022009-0.png

Queen stage of race is short, but with over 30km long and hard climb into finish. Winner takes all.

Sep Vanmarcke joined early break, his effort brought him the best place from my riders in finish...70th place, +8'45" after leaders. Not a good day for my team.
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13022009-1.png

Only few kilometers before finish, only best climbers are in front. Winner of stage 4 David Moncoutie launches another attack!
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13022009-2.png

Only Carlos Sastre can follow...
i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt229/sarinka9/13022009-3.png

...but nothing can stop Moncoutie today, he takes another win and yellow jersey from Ruben Perez.

Unfortunately, due to 3rd place for Roche today, my chances for taking of sprinter jersey decreased to a range of theory.

Here are last two stages of Tour de Langkawi, both are flat. Someone could say, it was decided after Genting Highlands, but it isn´t truth. Nicolas Roche proved his sprinter qualities and due to bonus seconds from both stages became new leader after last stage.

stage 6

Jeremy Hunt takes win ahead of Roche and Cardoso. My men tried their luck during stage and had no mo power for final sprint.
