I don't want to see a big talent like Phinney riding at the highest level for a team who has something to do with Armstrong.

Separate news, dude. Astana spoke to armstrong about signing Phinney since they believe the money situation will be resolved.
Fat chance.

Dan Lloyd is into Cervelo's Giro team in place of Hayden Roulston, bringing the total Giro 'Brit count' to 9.

According to norwegian media Armstrong might be planning to start his own cycling team for next season. if that happens, i think it is more probable that Phinney will end up there, considering their friendship.
If children have the ability to ignore all odds and percentages, then maybe we can all learn from them. When you think about it, what other choice is there but to hope? We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up, or Fight Like Hell.

I read the part about Armstrong taking over Astana, but that wasn't what I had heard before...

I really hope that Astana has to let some of their domestiques, who would be leader in other clubs, go.

Stupid course, as usual. I would do it a bit more squished down, 10 stages, and a stage from Sheffield to Bakewell, via Winnats Pass and Mam Tor. |

the thing that anoys me the most about the ToB is that the transfers are so long. Why have the transfers we do. Stupid. Stage 5-6 is about 3 hours or more. Stage 7-8 is about 2-3 hours.
Stupid.
Plus they always miss out the most challenging parts of the country. Making the tour really boring.
Edit: add in Wales etc.

The Kazakh team Astana will soon receive a formal warning from the President of the International Federation (UCI) for failing to pay some of its riders last month.
It was Pat McQuaid himself who announced Tuesday, saying he was preparing to send "a letter to Astana before going to see in two weeks the President of the Federation of Kazakhstan Nikolai Proskurin".
"I have not yet sent it, he said, but I'll do it. If they do not pay wages to their riders, a process could be initiated, including the rules that are explained in the letter. "
McQuaid added that if steps are not taken quickly by the leaders of the team, Astana "could lose its ProTour license, that allows him to match departure of the most prestigious races throughout the season. Following this announcement, the spokesman for Astana, Philippe Maertens, has not wished to make any comment.

Good news for all German cycling fans:
German TV have now decided to show 1 hour live from Tour de France every day despite previous reports, saying that TdF wouldn't make it to the Germans at all. |

Thats a "old" news because:
ARD and ZDF sit in a contract with the european broadcasting union.
They have to show something live otherwise they have to pay a lot of money to the EBU and ARD and ZDF is payed by the german people and if that would happen.....
But even if they wouldn´t show that we have Eurosport with 3 perfect commentators which are better then the commentators on ARD and ZDF if you would like to hear them :
https://www.youtub...-MryqlPMWI
The commentators of ARD and ZDF (which are the same but they put 2! diffrent tv reporting teams to France???) wouldn´t go crazy like that because Bettini was winning
Everytime I listen to that I have big goosebumps

I listened to a local german channel on livestream for Frankfurt City Loop.
And apart from the annoying pre-race talk, which was only about doping, the live commentary was pretty good. The guy recognized riders very well unlike our dutch commentators. |

About that, the other commentator from Eurosport here (not Paulo Martins, the other) in Flèche Wallone:
"And surprise...a Landboukrediet rider in the front of the peloton. There he is, in his green jersey."
(The jersey had light green sleeves and the torso was white. It was Daniel Martin in his irish champion jersey)
When he's done saying that, the moto camera closes up to Martin. Also, an image from the heli, showing the back of the shirt (clearly saying Garmin) shows up and he says:
"Great race from this Belgian team..."
It took 5 minutes until Paulinho (yes, the rider), who was replacing Paulo Martins, convinced him that was Daniel Martin...

Luis Piçarra is "the other"
And yeah he fails a lot at teams and cyclists, but it's still fun

The Tour of California organisers have suddenly decided that killing the race would be a great idea.
To achieve this, they asked the UCI to change the race from mid-february where it's the biggest race and gets awesome participation to mid-may, at the same time as two much bigger races.
Unless the Volta a Catalunya organisers get their wish for their race to be moved to a different calendar spot, the Tour of California has just commited suicide.

"We will be head-to-head with the Giro but frankly I don't think that will really affect us," Messick said. "The Giro is a great race, but very few cyclists who are serious about the Tour de France will also race the Giro."
He does not talk like smart and cycling knowledge person..Giro is nr 2 GT and race in the world. Well you might get Armstrong ,Landis for next year...but this is it.
