Could a decent climber with good TT skills helper win here if no one is really targeting this GT...some young talent or an older workhorse.
Not really sure who, but I could see a "surprise" winner. |

Can't see past Basso for the Giro.
Di Luca and ? to round out the podium.

I never saw Leipheimer like a big favourite for GT's. He isn't such a great climber, I think he was just in top top top form last Vuelta.
(remember that he sucked in Giro)
He wasn't in form for last years Giro. And in TDF 2007 he was the 3rd best (including Rasmussen) in the mountains. And he's by far the best timetrialer among the favorits. Only Basso can beat him

Still on a bad day he can lose a lot lot of time so I don't see him Basso's big opponen, really I don't see an opponent for Basso if is in good form.

i would like Basso to win it becaue im glad to see him back but if Armstong is racing then i would like to see him win it or Leipheimer, but i dont think Leiphiemer will be strong enough.
I doubt LA will be competitive after his crash in la Vuelta Castilly y Leon |

Mmmm....I forgot about Levi.
I guess it will be interesting to see him against Basso - though Levi will probably save himself for the Tour, and there'll be a 3-way battle between him, LA and Bertie.

Levi will not be in top form like last years Giro
Basso of course big favourite
maybe Scarponi for podium? |

Im going to say:
1. Levi
2. Basso
3. Bruseghin (just becasue of the long time trial)
4. Jacky Rod
5. Menchov (he never attacked alst year jsut built form for the tdf)
Cant see sastre doing anything as he will want to win the tdf and vuelta more than the giro |

Attacked in 3 mountain stages and was very ill with the flu in the other two (which is probably why he didn't win the Giro)

Sorry, I was sure I had quoted your Menchov comment, but apparently I quoted something else by accident. Edited it now.
As for Sastre, he's 100% not doing the Vuelta.

Not yet. There's still a month and 2 days to go till it starts :\

I don't think that Bruseghin will do too much as he will probably be foreced to stay with Cunego every time he is dropped off (every high mountain stage )

Bruseghin..he was my wild quess protege before last year even started..and he was amazing.
This year Giro will be different..and much harder for Bruseghin..he cant repeat he's last year result..and he has Cunego to look after. |
