why isnt Ruben Lampe, one of the best mountainbikes of the world in there???
I can answer that. Because Ruben Lampe is a mountainbike. And not a mountainbike rider.

for some reason my earlier post didn't go through.
Cavendish, after last season the pressure was on him to get wins this year and he's proven himself as the best sprinter in the world. |

I voted for Sastre.
None of the others surprised me by winning the races they did - apart from Cav. But, not rider who pulls out of races because of a mountain or two deserves to be rider of the year. |

He only withdrew to prepare for the olympics, but according to Cav, he was let down by British Cycling a fair amount, and he now wishes he'd have stayed in the tour to win the green jersey.

Because he had it all sown up. It's not like he was 25 points behind and had never completed a GT before.
I voted for Sastre mainly because he excited me, Contador was good but it all seemed a procession.

Since I cant tell how sarcastic you are being. No, he wasnt going to win the green jersey but there was always the possibility of having a go at winning the final stage. And he has completed a GT - the Giro. |

Rider of the year: Steve Cozza or Scott Nydam.
No doubt about it

And this years Giro was probably much harder than the Tour |

I voted for Carlos Sastre but the best rider of the Year 2008 is Fabian Cancellara. He won Tirreno, San Remo and Olympics. Roubaix, Suisse, Tour de France etc. are good results too
