No shame in not beating Barbin and Bystrom, and maybe he can attack again on day three and pick up more points.
Hoping the same for Barbin - to attack and go for KOM
Also, forgot to mention Kritskiy in my previous comment. Really wanted to bring him, as a defending champion, but I think his value is much higher for us in Vuelta al Tachira.

That's fine for Glanbia. Kent Main is the best TTer and climber of our two possible leaders so happy to see him finish with the leaders. Craddock always did ok here and he's a slightly worse version of Craddock
Congrats Nemo!
Tomorrow, we throw a gaggle of TTers at it hoping one has a great day

Good first stage for us with both Paillot and Faglum Karlsson making the favourites group. Paillot should be in a good position to challenge for the GC lead after the time trial now. Also nice to see Chaves active although he couldn’t break away.
Congrats to Nemo!

Obviously very happy with this result, what a debut for Higuita! I would have thought his time to shine would be stage three, but apparently this stage was way harder than I expected. Any chances for Zmorka to score a decent GC result now are gone, but with Higuita, a strong Osorio in his first maxed race and Aular we have three top-20 GC options.
Hope Higuita can manage to outperform a bit in the time trial tomorrow and stay in touch for a strong GC finish, whereas either Zmorka or Sütterlin must try to make this 2/2 stages for our team. Paillot perhaps the GC favourite now, together with McNulty.
Thanks for the congratulations and thank you and conmiserations to roturn for the report and Vansevenant.

Weird how Beltran lost so much time on this stage last year, yet this year his younger protégé wins the stage? Such a weird stage. Congrats Nemo!

Avoided the 0 pointer here, nice to see Meurisse back to his scoring ways after an abysmal TDU where he missed every gap imaginable. Sad for us to not really have any additional gaps in our favour as the TT most likely sends the duo out of contention for a top 10 GC result.
Congrats to Nemo, nice to see the Higuita training paying off. Thanks for the report!

Congrats to Nemo, looks like your power setup is working well here Unsure whether Aular or Osorio will be your best bet for the GC, but great to have multiple options for sure
Which also holds for my team I guess. Masnada wasn't quite as great as in previous years on S1; he just wasn't patient enough and launched way too early - and surely didn't have the best legs if he couldn't even follow Teuns. But it's good to see him active again. Repeating last year's GC podium isn't too likely, though, given that big first group with quite some stronger TTers. So our hopes might actually be on Darbellay now, given that S3 could suit the stronger climbers pretty well.
Errazkin making the front group is also good to see, although he'll barely make the Top 25 after the TT I guess. But it's already far better than Moscon ever did in this race.
Küng is exactly the other way round; he should be very high up in the GC after the TT, but I don't expect him to get a high GC position. Just looking at last year - Paillot lost over 3 minutes on day 3 (which is why I don't really agree with Nemo on his GC favorite status), so I can't expect more from Küng.
But it's good to have multiple options - hoping one of these four can deliver a great result. We should be pretty high in the team standings after S2 as well (although there's no beating LPH obviously), let's see if we can go one better than in TDU where we finished 4th.
Thanks for the report to roturn (although it probably was no pleasure doing it), and commiserations to the unlucky ones who got the short straw in this year's S1 lottery...

Congrats to Nemo, I'm glad I could see your beautiful jersey (don't pay attention to the haters ) live and winning a race, too. Though I could have done with another race where I don't finish second ...
Teuns has done really well, now it's mostly about surviving the TT for him and then a GC top 10 could be realistic.

Actually really happy with this stage, even though no one did anything particularly useful. Reguigui, Siriwardena and Abreu all on same time as 4th in GC is a win for me as they should be able to jump above their current positions in the TT.
Thanks roturn for the report and Laurens for the report. It's much appreciated

Would have liked to keep Higuita closer, 44 second gap can be closed in the TT but makes him more dangerous on S3. Probably should have sacrificed one or more of our puncheurs in the first group to reduce that gap.
Still a dangerous stage safely navigated. A solid TT from McNulty tomorrow and should be in a good position going into S3.

Interesting scenario with the mountain stage left.
Some TT riders with decent skills with a nice advantage, then some decent climbers next while McNulty obviously stands out here.
Some mid 70s here and there while there is lots of up potential for the ~20th riders, including Vanhoucke. Obviously is having Higuita, Chaves, Aular etc. right behind, which is a danger, but at the same time being in a decent position to attack several weaker climbers in the top20.
While Vansevenant was the expected leader, Vanhoucke could have a nice early start in his first real max stat test.
With this outcome, I probably should have sent the a bit stronger climber/TT rider in Cras but as any of those was expected to support only, it`s fine.
Congrats to Los Pollos again, who seem to make an early move for top favourite of the 2023 PCT class. As also nice to see Paillot in the GC lead, unfortunately he was never at his best in the season riding for me, which was a pretty bad season from him. |

Sicard's performance in the TT has been expected and unfortunately he's out of contention. Now all of the team's hopes rest on Barta's shoulders in what is his homecoming. Our other TT specialists performed decently.
Congrats to Los Pollos - it was pretty much no contest when you have the strongest TT specialist of them all

Kent Main doing a nice job under the radar here, one more decent day and he can have a decent GC result. If I were playing PCM I would just have him follow McNulty

Not an ideal stage at all. Verona outside of the Top 20 is a disappointment, Politt in 8th is on the lower end of acceptable results. Izagirre also not great, losing time on the likes of Barta and Faglum Carlsen isn't ideal. Uwi with an okay result at least. I think he's our better option for the GC now. Two in the Top 10 is still a possibility, and on a good day like he had on day three last year, Uwi might be able to break into the Top 5-7 maybe. But I could also see both him and Izagirre finishing in the 15-20 range overall. We'll see. Congrats Nemo on the expected victory, and thanks as always for the report roturn!

Pretty happy with that. Big improvement for Paillot compared to last year where he was outside the top 10. Hopefully the leader’s jersey can give him a boost on the final climb tomorrow and help him secure a decent GC result. Faglum Karlsson also in a very good position. If the mountain stat comes into play, he could even climb a bit higher. Happy with Chaves as well, who should be our best bet for the final stage if he’s allowed a free role. He’s not too far back so could climb to a pretty strong GC result.
Congrats again to Nemo! The first of many wins for Zmorka this season, I reckon.

Zmorka (and Sütterlin) did what they needed to do, so that's great to see. Winning stages in C1 isn't a lot points-wise, but it still feels good of course. GC wise we didn't do an ideal job. We do have three guys just inside the top-20, but all of them are far from the top-5 that gives decent points. In an ideal world somebody like Aular or Osorio would sacrifice themselves so Higuita can make a big jump tomorrow, but we'll see if he's still in the same form he was yesterday. Also need to make sure the break is caught if we want to come closer, because finishing on the podium would give those extra seconds we desperately need.
@Fab: I know Paillot lost three minutes last year, but I was/am thinking about a possible yellow jersey bonus for him tomorrow
Thanks for the congratulations and thank you for the report, roturn!

Nemo cleaning up so far, congrats again! Happy with where Barbio is sitting and hopefully the team keeps working for him as leader tomorrow. Also happy with Haugard's ride today. Thanks roturn for the race.
