Hmm, seems like Eislers might be competitive in the sprints, maybe he could bring a few points more.
Happy to see Kaislavuo get our first KOM-jersey of the season. Hopeful that he can hold on to it a little longer.
Thank you Ulrick! |

Initially we messed this race up as we misread it as C2 and chose it as a season goal which is utopical regarding the competition. So we were quite surprised to see one of our riders in the favourites list - and were even more as it was drafted veteran puncheur McEvoy as a sprinter! Well, bbl was indeed right about this and we got a great stage result already, though there was no chance against Carsi (Congrats to Laurens).
Stage 3 could see an outsider chance for Teuns, who could also be in the break in stage 4 as well as some others from the squad. Stage 5 isn't made for our squad at all. In stage 6 everything less than a victory in the sprint would be disappointing
And of course thanks to bbl and UU for the preview and the reports.

Great work from Kung and Liepins that resulted in the win of Carsi

That couldn't have gone much better! Great win for Taaramae on the stage where you'd expect him to struggle a little. Hopefully he's left enough in the tank for an even tougher day tomorrow where his Yellow Jersey will surely be under more threat.
Conci the only slight disappointment but the rest of the team is playing the support role so I can't be too disappointed
Thanks for the report UU and appreciate the help of other teams to chase down the breakaway. Expecting a big shake-up day in the Mountains tomorrow!!

Taaramae will be tough to beat at this point, congratulations!
Couldn't expect a huge Haig result in a hilly rated stage, so I'm not too concerned with a low Top-10 result here. Obviously we need a better result in the next stage though!

I'm hoping for a break from one of my climbers in the next stage As the GC is lost anyway.
Thanks for the reports UU!

Great stuff from Penasa to do so well on the hilly stage. Shame that Eenkhoorn got dropped though. We're on track still, that's all that's important.
Congrats to LLS and thanks for the report Ulrich

Guess it's no use to keep tourturing myself and the team in this race any longer. Time to regroup. Congrats to LLS for the win

Kraftwerk had nobody in the favourites list so I was a bit confused why we were on the front of the peleton, assumed another AI glitch.
Didn't see this result coming.
Ranaweera 3rd on the stage and 3rd in GC.
Boily 7th on the stage and 5th in GC.
Nerz top 30 on the stage taking us to first in Teams which is always a Kraftwerk objective.
Great stage for us, looking forward to seeing what a Nerz/Ranaweera double act can do in the mountains tomorrow.
Thanks for the report UU and congrats to LLS.

Well, the series of near misses goes on - 2nd, 4th, 4th... But today I'm definitely happy with Stüssi's result, given the profile and his skillset. Bonus seconds would obviously have been a nice, well, bonus, but staying well inside the group was much more important. Now onto the decisive stage...
I'm much more unhappy with Masnada and Mäder, though. Especially the former's no-show was really disappointing - being listed as a Top 10 candidate by PCM (rightfully so imho, given his puncheur skills) and then just not caring is bad. Kraftwerk show how depth results are done - and I honestly don't think Masnada is worse than Boily...
It looks like sending more than one good climber to a race is just wasting race days for us, as we never had more than one being useful so far. Gotta learn from D2B how it's done ^^
Thanks for the report, and congrats to Zara - absolutely insane scoring for a C1 race so far...

Being a second behind isn't ideal, but this is great some amazing riding by Padun for sure! Winning the GC would be much deserved after such a shitty hill stage

Haig tried, which is fine. Obviously not an ideal result eventually and probably too less to attack the GC win? Definitely needs a big performance in the very short MTT to at least go for the minimum goal/podium.

Pretty lame stage by the GC riders, but that's nothing new in those races finishing with a downhill. I'll definitely take it, though - given that Stüssi easily kept up with the top climbers and still holds onto 3rd!
However, all those riders right behind him in the GC are stronger climbers, and some are better TTers as well. I'll have to hope that TTing actually matters, and that he can either keep those behind him at bay or catch Padun. Our Top 5 goal still is within reach if Stüssi gets some great daily form - but even dropping out of the Top 10 could happen on a horrible day. Let's hope for some home bonus - a podium in this race would be just amazing!
Also happy that Masnada redeemed himself today, even taking one stage point, and basically securing a GC Top 20. Mäder once again wasn't really good unfortunately, but should at least get one point from the U25 standings.
Congrats to Popo4Ever, good to see your guys actually do something this year! (although I'd obviously prefer having Padun behind Stüssi )
And thanks for the great report, Ulrich! It's actually quite fun to follow a race where you even know some of the route - I did Col des Mosses by bike as well, and went sledding on the lower half of the Col de la Croix down to the finish line in Les Diablerets

Really solid racing from Habtemichael so far to sit 9th and in the white jersey. if he can hold onto Top 10 and the U25 it will be a good result from him for sure! Also cool to see Stannard mixing it up in the stage battle yesterday.

Not a great stage for us but not a bad stage for us either. Job done kind of stage for Taaramae to hold onto the GC lead going into Stage 5.
Going to be an all-decisive stage tomorrow. Haig should be favourite to win the stage but I have to hope Taaramae has enough in the tank to limit his losses. Similarly, he should do better than Padun but the TT stat impact isn't usually too much either. Rein's energy stats really going to be tested.
Thank you for another magnificent report UU and looking forward to an exciting TT!

As Croatia said loved the report format for the ITT! Not the best stage for Habtemichael given his skillset but hanging on to the Top 10 finish ahead of some big names makes for a very good first race of leadership from him! As you rightly pointed out, lots of credit and lots of love to McCormick for honing his skills at chasing his own interests with that great neo-pro year KoM hunting

Holy shit, what a horrible day by every single one of my climbers, with Masnada just ridiculously bad (even behind anti-TTer Pernsteiner...). I've got no clue what happened there, but that's just an awful result. I'm really pissed right now. A lot.
I mean, Costagli takes 8th, wtf...
Congrats nonetheless to deserved and logical stage winner Haig.
